There has been a twist in the case of the civil servants - so now no more updates cos not enough info - so die die must find some other hot news of the sort....here's a chance not to be missed, TRE news also can, as long as not in disfavor of 'the victor'
msm is not taking d morality route; they r pussyfooting ard d 'alleged' affair;
dis is d same msm running a story fr TRE dat they hv previously said is not creditable. Has their position change?
If they hv d evidence, they r not cfming d rumour in d msm.Way2GO:
Hmmm..... :spank: YSL :spank: YSLd main angle of attack is YSL AWOL from MP duties; WP is keeping mum n not answering to d public outrage. see it now?

JN was already a Christian when the news broke.

Agree. TR has become so polarised that it has very little credibility to me. It's mainly those who are so blinded and blinkered by total hatred for the ruling party who choose to believe everything they read there. Prob the same demographic to the contributors.
Like I said, the party is not accountable for it's member's private affair. So, it's handling doesn't affect my opinion of them, I feel.
I have clarified earlier that, I don't trust TR, not that I believe in YSL.
so, if the only source of information is still solely from TR only, I still don't believe it. But if there is other developments, actions, reports by ST or other sources.. that is different story.
Anyway, my comment is solely with regards to the possible impact by the ema, not related to whether I believe it nor not.
No matter how true the affair is, I still do NOT believe TR. All my post is talking about how the article by TR is not substantiated. I never say YSL is not guilty what......
Much prefer TOC. Even though it's certainly not all gospel truth, at least their reporting is more responsible, and they seek to give a balanced view that is sorely lacking in MSM esp when it comes to politics. whatever you say abt MSM, ultimately their core biz is to sell papers, to make sure the advertising revenue comes in. I'd say toeing the MIW line is usually secondary, though still necessary.
the MIW like to say that the online community is usually unfair to them. But Sgporeans are not ALL completely biased, not all ranters hiding under anonymity of keyboard warrioring. Of course there are some. But I believe the majority are not hatred-stoking, sh*t-stirring rumour mongers out there to propagate conspiracy theories. Give the ppl more credit. there are ppl who are fair to MIW, and will not believe that they can only do wrong and that the opposition can do no wrong.
As this case has proven, both backyards face the same human issues, that any of us could be faced with. It's not that one side is more or less moral than the other. just shows that both are made of fallible humans.
No real views on whether WP should have been more upfront, clarify, own up, move on. Perhaps their loud silence is also a reflection on how taken unawares , taken aback they were by this whole episode. Too shocked to know how to put the right spin on it to appear 'right' to the electorate. Which also bodes well in a way. Shows that our politics is not as smarmy as overseas politics where the spinning (and smearing of the other party at every opportunity to detract attn?) would have begun immediately. -

My bad.
No, from what I know, he goes to CHC before anything of that sort was in the news. He was one of the celebrities there.Way2GO:
I only know dat JN n family turned to CHC after d dam broke.
Don't think he was a Christian bf.
OK. Chenonceau said d same thing.
many SYTs in CHC?

When PAP came into power, LKY recognized one of d tenets to maintaining power is to muzzle d press to do its bidding.
There is a video on dis in youtube. Don't know if its still available for viewing.
d SPH chairman has always been a PAP stalwart.
Not any Tom, Dick n Harry can become chief editor of ST etc.

I agree with you 100%! Well, except the last line, so maybe 90%
My initial instincts was dat keeping quiet whilst internal investigations/clarifications were carried out was d right move.
But it went on for too long without a firm response (unless u count 'no comment' as one) fr WP while d fire was being fanned.
d perception dat YSL is guilty, WP is not transparent n not accounting to d public begin to stick in more ppl's minds.
WP lost a great opportunity to just come clean n appear whiter than MIWs, wouldn't u agree?
But I m just an outside observer.
WP is keeping d cards close to their chest., they know wat's best for their party.

Hey my exact thoughts too. WP disappointed me in the way they handled this. After investigation is clear, they should take a stand of their views to clear the air instead of letting YSL confessed indirectly through a resignation. The line is bold is so critical which they overlooked

yup everyone knows that. On politics of course the leash is very tight. the slap on the wrist or butt is always swift and decisive haha. only those who subscribe to the emotional blackmail that the press should function for the good of the country for stability blah blah get anywhere near management levels.

but on a daily basis, on non-political matters, they can publish what they want to sell the papers. newspapers are businesses too. they need revenue to survive. they are not wholly funded by ah gong. -
concern2:
Yes, u r right if it's actually 'rumors'... But, rumor applies only to the 3rd person, & not the 1st person. Therefore, it's right for LTK to call this a rumor, but it's not right for YSL to call this a rumor. He is the one being accused, so if anyone, he should know if this accusation is true or fabrication... He must understand that, as an elected MP, his constituents trusted him enough to elect him in, therefore, he is totally accountable, whether it be a private or public matter. As I have mentioned, if an MP can lie or cheat his or her spouse, who is the closest person to him/her, then he will have little to stop him from doing same to his constituents, who r not as close to him/her. On top of that, it's political suicide, as henceforth, YSL, LTK et al will no longer have credibility if they call on any individual & or any political party to be transparent or accountable... Right...?Vote PAP:
My family's take: If u can cheat on your own wife, who is supposed to be the closest person to u, u will surely cheat your constituents, who u may not even know...just common sense, u know...doesn't take a Rocket Scientist...Remember to Vote correctly next time, for your kid's future. PAP has brought us from 3rd world to 1st world...Please dun throw your future away by voting in incompetent skirt chasers who may bring us back to 3rd world again. U will Reap what u Sowed...!
Um...do you ever hear MIW addressing rumors? -
concern2:
Yes, I'm trying to be objective as well. Let's not be angry with each other's comments. Instead, look at what is at stake here...I'm sure Marcos was once considered a National Hero, then look @ what happened. We hv to know tt our leader is Transparent & Accountable. When Marcos syphoned $$$ into his \"private\" acct, is that a private affair, or is he indeed accountable to his voters? Wld u hv liked to know before it got too late &, before u knew it, ur daughters & sons hv to be sent to a foreign country to earn foreign reserve for their beloved country whose leaders betrayed them. it is to this end tt we need our elected to be transparent, & if wrongly maligned, to come out & strongly deny it. This will only strengthen him/her. Else, he/she will lose all rights to call on any others to be transparent & accountable. Tts my take...Vote PAP:
