Child abduction at AMK Hub
-
just learnt that my husband’s niece in P4 is going on school trip to HK this coming june. Disneyland definitely on the must-visit list. I informed her mother about the papers reports and get her to explain to her daughter on the safety measures.

Just would like to know if you happen to see people abducting kids or trying to be funny, will you step up and help?
Just curious whether we just keep quiet and stand there and look or take action to do something.

I believe everyone will take action right? Especially since we are all parents.Just would like to know if you happen to see people abducting kids or trying to be funny, will you step up and help?

Time to take away the PS3, then.buds:
Budsie dear, thank you for your kind words on my DS2. :hugs: i did explained to him on the recent abduction case, however his reply was \"i can fight like super iron man war machine with super duper repulsor unibeam rocket laser cannon and machine gun\". My reaction was :yikes: :stupid: the things about boys.
Gaming has affected his reality!
there is no such thing as super iron man war machine with super duper repulsor unibeam rocket laser cannon!
there is only Iron Man and War Machine (separate entity) with repulsor blast (Iron Man), unibeam (Iron Man) and rockets (mostly War Machine) and Lasers (both have)
tsk tsk tsk
sorry for the OT -
The recent cases of near child abduction and some references to Hong Kong Disneyland’s missing children cases got me scared.
Thought of bringing him to HKG disneyland but think i will drop the idea now.
Pinky,
I agree with LOLMum that this should be highlighted to the school principal as well. Better be safe, kiasu than sorry. -
When one loses her handbag to a snatch thief, one would shout "thief thief" and helpful people would give chase.
I wonder why when one finally catch up with one’s lost child didn’t get nearby people to nab the "kidnapper" and hand over to security personnel / police leading to more cases in Bukit Panjang / Simei. Police should be quick in enforcing ISA to detain these kidnappers just like terrorists.
No fire, no smoke. People would not anyhow report / raise public awareness in social media (FB) / evening papers. If I remember correctly, one paper mentioned don’t cause undue worry if there isn’t a real case.
These incidents are indeed causing great worry amongst parents as there are now a number of cases happening in SG.
Perhaps George Yeo should say all Singaporeans should unite in stamping out child abduction (I was impressed with HKG’s 2 commuters for standing up to question the kidnapper in the MTR) as compared to the calling of Singaporeans to work together for the (economic / political) interests of the country -
Wondering would childcare centres help to educate the students in safety measures?

When Mas Selamat escaped, posters were put up everywhere.
For stamping out, we can:
1) educate our kids on the recent cases and hold on to their hands whenever & wherever we go out (which is evident from advice here)
2) Principals to highlight to students the recent cases during assembly and perhaps have stricter adherence on pick up, more parent volunteers on the road outside school before & after dismissal (look out for suspicious vans, lend helping hand if unfortunate thing happen).
3) raise public awareness by highlighting the cases on national TV
