Even if they spend thousands of $, they still can't promise parents they can get their kids to GEP right? Those parents just want to show off they have \"gifted\" kids mah, some more since gifted kids comes from gifted parents mah according to study.... and they are prepared to do their kids homework, portfolio assessment and projects.

There’s demand out there which explains the increased number of centres offering the prep programme. If there’s no change in the way gep’s pupils are selected, very soon we can’t tell whether those on this programme are trained or natural.
Parents can send their kids for training however, they will learn that even if their children can be admitted to jcs of their choices, the most popular courses in unis are not guaranteed even with a string of straight As. -

you're right!
To enter the most popular courses in unis:-
a) some with a string of straight As - failed to get into these hot, popular course(s).
Instead, those with less than perfect scores managed to get in. Unis not just narrow down to your academic results, but other factor(s) too.
b) eventually, more NON Gepper(s) got into the hot, popular courses in Unis, than Gepper(s).
once reach 'O' / 'A' level -
nobody bother whether you are Gepper or not. Nobody bother about your past PSLE results.
after P6 -
still a long way to go ... before reach the finishing line at 'A' level entry into unis, or via alternative poly route into unis. -

Is he even allowed to do that? I thought these papers are copyrighted property and only GEP Branch has access to them? -

Well, he may have helped set the papers in the first place and so, perhaps, he owns the copyright? Isn't that the argument set forth for not publishing past PSLE papers? (that the individual teachers who set the papers own the copyright?) -

I think he might have photocopy from the GE kids he knows over the years. Selling at $800 and that is no diff as \"Day light robbery!\". My friend GE kid completed her GEP without purchasing all these past year papers. The school teachers will get them to practice these papers before all tests and exams. She still got good results and dsa to her dream school! There is absolutely no necessity to spend such money!
