Thanks, Ectanz for your feedback. My son started when he was in K1 n I felt that the words that he learnt in Beijing was so advanced. N now he is in P1 and I felt that his hanyu pin yin is really good. All thanks to Beijing Language n I sent my little one who is in nursery now to Beijing Languague earlier than her siblings. Lol cos she doesn't speak mandarin at all n after one month through Beijing Language school, she started speaking a few words in mandarin 🙂

Hi dohdoh, agreed. My dd was indeed well prepared in her Chinese when she entered P1 especially HYPY. My dd was weak in Chinese when she was in nursery n her cc Chinese teacher advised us to let her read n speak more at home. This is reason why I started her in Chinese enrichment with Beijing Language when she was 4yo. Secondly, I am not gd in HYPY and hence unable to help n coach her. I feel that HYPY is even more difficult than 汉字. I intend to send my dd2 next yr when she is in Playgroup.

thanks all.. enrolling DD as the school is near my home hahaha.. and berries until now no slot

Another reason of why we chose Beijing Language is also near my place n we can spend time in Shopping ctr while waiting for her. Berries I heard fr my friend is very gd too. Her son really enjoyed their curriculum. They are more on learn thru play type. Each time they will take hm a few flashcards to practice. Their teaching method Is different fr Beijing Language. Younger kids will enjoy more with Berries I think.

Hi Micollh, kids of these days speak more English unless we have parents staying with us. My elder dd had her Chinese enrichment in Tien Hsia when she was in K2 n it was quite good too but cos there was no suitable time slot for my son n being convenient I tried Beijing language school. I feel that foundation for Chinese is really very important especially these days we, as parents, don’t even speak proper Mandarin. Lol. My 2 younger kids didn’t even speak mandarin at home n am glad with Veijing Language they r more willing to speak.

Ya, agreed. Previously my dd1 was being taken care by my in-laws n they will normally communicate with her in Cantonese or simple English n therefore my dd1 cant express her words in Mandarin. Our communication at hm are mainly English. After her CC Chinese teacher highlighted to us abt her weak in Chinese, we tried to talk to her in simple Mandarin. Slowly she improved but still not so gd.

I heard n read forum that TH is also relatively gd as compared to Berries. Heard that they hv show n tell in K2 which I find it's very important as this will be tested in P1. Beijing Language is gd in term of writing n maybe reading but they did not hv show n tell in their curriculum. Wanted to enrol my dd1 in TH but also not convenient.

TH is better than Berries (for upper pri). Berries is good for lower P. Beijing Language is something like TH. Whichever centre it is, better to start soon. By the time they are older, it is hard to adjust to any centre. For me, I prefer TH or Beijing, more academic. My kids are no longer at Beijing, now at TH not for anything but more for convenience.

Hi Sanrioland, my elder gal went for the P3 one last year n she didn’t like it cos teacher never explain certain helping words n read thru model compo before they start writing n so everyone tends to copy exactly the story of model compo. But I think it is subjective n I would recommend HCL which is quite good in compo. Exposé very good phrases to assist the kids in writing.
