A strong defence is critical otherwise we can be easily taken advantage by some who are not friendly. Just hve to educate our sons to be proud and make the best out ot the 22 mths-2 yrs even as they are expected to be losing out to male fts for good jobs and choosing suitable wives. It’s a big sacrifice serving this nation, ready to lay down their lives(all servicemen must take an oath) with no pay but meagre allowances.


Pray that your sons are good academically as they will only be up to three yrs behind their foreign competitors and two yrs vs-a vs our local girls. Those who are mediocre or below average are up to four yrs and five yrs respectively behind the curve.

If we love our nation and feel that all the above sacrifices are worth it, then we should support a strong toal defence policy.

Agree with ur sentiments in general.
However, with d way things r or perceived now, rightly arnot,
d young will start to query, \"wat r we sacrificing for or defending wat?\"

More than that, I wonder whether a reservist force is still needed in today's business-driven world. Today, economics is the main thing that drives foreign policy. Countries will not go to war with each other if it is going to hurt their economy/trade/business/markets. Nor will countries go to war and occupy other countries to build empires (like they did in the 19th century). So diplomacy and consensus are more necessary today than being fighting-ready.

Parental support is crutial in this instance. Our boys do not hve a choice. That’s why i hold the opinion that a serviceman’s contribution to our beloved nation exceeds those foreign talents no matter how significant their individual contributions to our society.
