Secondary Schools - Girls' Only

If not mistaken, I think SACSS is going to its holding school at the current Tampines Sec Sch (used to be the old Temasek Sec Sch). It’s abt 10 - 15 mins walk from Bedok MRT station. Holding period likely to be some time 2011 - 2012.

Thank you Schweppes for update. St. Anthony's Canosssian Sec seems to goos option over CHIJ St. Theresa' since holding site is better. School also gas better recommendation in this thread. COP is however higher for CHIJ St. Theresa'... Which school is better ?

Eh… not too sure which is a better school.


From the recent 2009 School Achievements ranking, CHIJ Theresa was ranked Band 8 and SACSS was ranked Band 9. Guess u would need to consider factors like:

- Academic performance
- Niche focus
- CCA abilities/ varieties - which CCA in the respective sch might appeal to your daughter
- School environment, value system
- Quality of teachers - nurturing? encouraging?

Not too sure about CHIJ T’s principal, but I’ve heard positive feedback about the principal, Ms Melanie Martens for SACSS. One of my friends who had her as a teacher (b4 she became principal) described her as a dynamic and good teacher. Apparently, she was an international hockey player who played for Spore. Come to think of it, Ms Martens was formerly a teacher at CHIJ T before being promoted to Principal at SACSS. What a coincidence!

How about Paya Lebar Methodist Girls and Tanjong Katong Girls?

Go to Booklet 2, all the rankings and value added awards are there. Just go to MOE website to filter out only "girls secondary schools". From there, seach in Booklet 2 to look at their rankings (go to the right page because some schools have both express and normal rankings), CCA, niche areas, awards etc. Remember to look at "value added" awards because this is the recognition for academic performance beyond MOE expecation based on PSLE entry scores.
