Yup not compulsorySAHM_TAN:
If you are registering in popular school, you might want to apply leave to attend the ballot session too.
Attendance at ballot session is not compulsory. But most parents would want to be there to witness the process and know the result immediately. -
Hi want to check if the school will provide info like so far how many people registered are within 1km, 1~2km, 2km?

Errrm... i definitely sounded ungrateful for the bliss of getting into a gd school like TNS.. hehehe.... but was just worried that the temp premise will be too far fr its current area. Am glad it's not too far away now that i know....

I was not feeling the pressure before reaching the school for my boy's balloting in 2B yesterday in TNS. My GOSH!! There were so many parents attending it! The suspense of the ballot was overwhelming.. hahaha.. All mixed emotions thruout the whole process of balloting.. Happiness and disappointment...
I am glad mine is over...
All the best of luck to all parents! :xedfingers: -

Sometimes, pressure is given by parents. Usually children adapt quite well. As long as good habits of doing homework and focusing in class are cultivated, it shouldn't be a problem to survive in any school. :celebrate: -

Your \"Oh my gosh\" is just your nervous feelings or calling for me... hahaha :)? Anyway, congrats for getting into TNS.Oh My Gosh:
Unlike the other schools for this year registration, for TNS, the phase 2B is not so \"hot\" as compared to its prior years. Historically, the average is about 90-100+ applicants fighting for 60+ vacancies (within 1 km). Guess partly due to the fact that it is going to shift to the temporary premises for 2014-2015. It may be lukewarm for phase 2C too - good news for parents whom are aiming for phase 2C.

Fortunately, I get to send my kids to school every morning. I may sound naggy to them, but I have been telling them the following :
Pay attention to teacher.
Listen to teacher. Don't talk when teacher is teaching.
Focus when teacher is teaching.
Do your work faster.
I say it almost everyday. Different one each day... Now both of them knows what I want to say before I finish my sentence.
It's also important for the child to know that teacher and parents have a communication path. My elder son is almost very unlucky.... When he happened to misbehave a little in class, I just have a sixth sense to ask teachers \"how is he?\"
It happened three times, (in nursery, k1 and his art class).
Now he's fine and so far no complaints. :boogie:
Giving them colouring work at home helps the focus and tone down. Something they can do and feel good. I don't believe in giving lots of assessment. The only extras I give are those iq building type, colouring, dots to dots...etc. These kind of work does help a little to build attention span. Academics I leave it to the school.
Most important, the bait to work must be strong.... After completing, they get to watch tv or play toys, anything they want....
This trick has been working well for me, hopes it continue to work for many more years. :xedfingers: -

Thanks for the advice.tclhub:
Hi just to confirm - phase 2C registration is on 30, 31 July and 1 Aug. Is it true that in past years, most parents only register on the last day to gauge the number of children registered? If so, I am applying leave on 1 Aug. Pls advise, thanks!
For popular schools, I believe there will be a mad rush on day 3 because many are taking this tactic too. -
