Doing the papers is 1 thing, whether the teacher has time to go through all is another thing… dd has been complaining about her teacher has not gone through a lot of papers the class submitted!

My brother is not studying at all and he’s sitting PSLE this year. It is apparent that he doesn’t care about his future and thinks that he will still be able to get a good job even if he goes to a "crappy" secondary school. My parents have tried all ways and means of getting him to study for PSLE (e.g. reward him for studying, punish him for not studying, giving him scenarios concerning his ruined future etc.), but he’s still not studying. Is there any way to make him study?

If teachers pile students with paper after paper, I can't sit back and do nothing. So, I have to monitor the hw given and whether they are marked. Even if marked, marked by who? Are answers correct? I took out all my son's English worksheets to compile all the answers for vocab cloze (synonyms) and editing (spelling). Some of the synthesis questions throw me off the chair too.

This month is PSLE oral & next month is PSLE written papers. Time is running out & he is unable to do much. Parents need to motivate & coach their kids. Not just giving reward & use punishment. He must be willing to do his part before others could help him with his weak subject or topic.

i agree to avoid crowded places and unnecessary activities like swimming. Swimming because, just in case they catch a cold or some inconsiderate people cough or sneeze into water etc.

During exam periods, i keep them at home most of the time. Of course jogging, walking are fine. Dont go out in the middle of hot day!!
To add on to these, make sure yr kids dont eat out juz before and during the exam period,
as to avoid or prevent any unhygienic food which could cause stomach flu, diarrhorea or food poisoning, etc.

And AVOID deep fried food, junk food and processed food as it will affect the performance of the brain activity.

Hi, reporter from The New Paper here. Anyone know of parents who have quit their job to help their child prepare for their PSLE or someone who has taken a leave of absence for about six months to a year to coach their child in this crucial year. Would like to have a chat to know more. Please email me at [email protected]

                  Thanks for this tip, Augmum!

Showed this to both my helper and DD.
She loves fish tofu & processed cheese - some processed food have been \"disguised\" to appear healthy.

Know:-) of a kid who took PSLE last year and in sec 1 this year. His parents sent him for all sort of tuition and even Mind Edge. But result still poor and got only 202 Aggregate score. Later, the kid let out that he don't give a damn with all the tuition he went to.

Ended up in a shitty secondary school and the vicious cycle repeats itself - terrible classmates who don't give a damn about their studies and teachers that scold and scold everyday.

Really worry for him and when I got the chance to see him, try to psycho him a bit. Tell him whether he would like to PLAY NOW! PAY LATER or PAY NOW! PLAY LATER? Have to scare them a little and jolt them out of his complacency.

I’ve put everything aside these 2 weeks. Oral is important. So if homework from school proved too much since just getting past year papers done, I will write in to the teacher. After the Oral on Friday, we will take a short breather to prepare for next hurdle. Building momentum is crucial now. I know that feeling of being burnt out.

We have been drinking lots of water and avoiding deep fried food.
