Watching the closing ceremony as I type this. The wonderful George Michael, the magnificent Kaiser Chiefs and now the spectacular Annie Lennox. What a show we Brits have put on. I am swelling with pride. :boogie:
Edited. PS......I apologise for Russell Brand .........hopefully he will stay in America....... :censored: -

he deserved a GOLD medal for sportsmanship actually -
The 10m men diving final was exciting! I am impressed by the cheerful Daley and his British teamates who jumped in the pool in celebration of his bronze. The miracle of Boudia who used to have height phobia and rise from a nobody to gold. One was not the best doesn’t mean would never be the best. Cheers…

btw no athletes from our contingent stay back for the closing ceremony or just a few officials did that?

he deserved a GOLD medal for sportsmanship actually[/quote]He did received d Pierre de Coubertin medal in 1988 for demonstrating sportsmanship.
d de Coubertin medal has only been awarded 15 times since d 1964 Olympics.
I posted about dis man coz dat incident also involved 2 SG sailors who cld hv possibly lost their lives in d rough sea if not rescued in time.
One of whom went on to win medals for SG in other regional/international competitions. He now sits on d SNOC.
Lawrence Lemieux is still remembered in Canada n d sailing fraternity for his courage n self-sacrifice, but apparently few Sgreans do.

But it is not Singaporean's fault it seems, this news was not reported in the Singapore media as per the below link. and it was in a pre internet era...

Shaw Her was one of my classmates. Why no report? I only knew about it now. Singapore seems ungrateful. :spank: :spank: It's only an accident, nothing to be embarrassed about. :slapshead:

wonder if it is true that the IOC may consider taking out table tennis after the 2020 Olympics as reported in the papers.
