MOe announced Learning of English to Develop 21st Century

Just received the news flash from Straits Times that English syllabus for upper primary is revised from 2013.

From 2015, pupils sitting for PSLE will have to attempt the revised paper format.
And my DD will be going to PSLE In 2016 :nailbite: -

I was initially concerned when I read about the emphasis on \"21st century competencies\" - what on earth does that mean(!) but based on this extract from the MOE site referenced, it looks like things are heading in the right direction. -
I just hope by the time first batch of students attend the PSLE,they have enough resources and guidelines to prepare and attemp the exam with confidence.
There are changes in the way situational writing, listening compre & PD, Compre OE will be tested.
A bit more clarification with some examples provided will relieve both the students and parent from being anxious worrying about how the actual exam paper format will look. -

I am reasonably impressed with the Stellar program so far , so feel this new format will be geared more towards getting strong language (away from the parts of oral testing that can be rote learnt ) -
Sun_2010, i’m VERY impressed with the Stellar programme so far! Learning the English Language has never been better. Stellar offers the works in learning the language via integrated-skills-concept… it is interactive… encompassing all the language elements into a fun-packed programme. This kinda learning widens scope from just learning the language to loving the language. Via Stellar Programme, my girls do not detest reading for pleasure from time to time when they have time to unwind.

MOE just announced new English lessons with the implementation of the revised 2010 English Language (EL) Syllabus at Primary Four from 2013.
Students who are taught the new syllabus will sit for the revised Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) EL papers in 2015!!!
Any thought about this new PSLE revision? -

All schools will implement the revised English Language (EL) Syllabus at Primary Four from 2013 and all the current P3 students are going to take the newly revised PSLE format.

If ALL the schools get this, it is a good thing. Stellar has good learning materials and is taught in the way the current PSLE syllabus requirements SHOULD be taught. I like this. Very much.
Stellar gives teachers MORE materials to teach with than the lousy English textbook my son used this year and every year since he was P1. Finally, Upper Primary teachers are being given more basic materials to teach from.
