COP 2012 - For Secondary Schools in 2013

I am surprised the SCGS(IP) is 252 and the SCGS(O) is only one point lesser at 251. I expected the SCGS(IP) COP to be higher.

TJC is more established espcially since already have an IP programme for Sec 3 students and have a proven track record for JC. Much better than unknowns like SCGS, SNGS and CHS where they have no IP experience at all and will go on to form a brand new JC which will have many teething problems. Ironically COP for these 3 schools is higher than TJC. I believe got to do more with location as TJC is not as centrally located as the other 3.

Looking at this year COP makes me :roll: so Miss Snake must try to target 3 COP higher now just in case ????

Can anyone advice what is the COP for Hua Yi Secondary school for 2013 intake?

My DS posted to the school as 2nd choice...missed Jurong Secondary school by 2 points...

I think it may be 222 or 221 as last year it was 220

Thanks...I called the school and the staff refused to disclose the information. Just told me that the COP goes up...but not sure how much...

I am still thinking whether to appeal for Jurong Secondary School....

Both school offered CCA -Track & field/ Cross Country that my DS wants to join and the subjects offer almost the same.

Do schools look at CCA track records when appeal? My DS participated in National Track and Field event and entered final although no medal won...

I am from far North and daughter got a place at TJC. I believe in a small country like Singapore , location should never be a factor especially from Secondary level onwards. Important to get the best school for the child regardless of location. Parents nowdays really pamper their kids with anything more than 20 minutes away being considered too far.

I tried filing appeal for DD last year. Her T-score is the COP for the school so I was hopeful at first. However, her appeal was not successful. According to the school, they can only take in a student if another student transfers out and there was v little student movement last year (perhaps 1 or 2). Waiting for the result of the appeal is v unsettling for both parents and child.

There are cases of students filing appeal to transfer to a school with COP lower than their T-score. Such appeal cases tend to have a much higher chance of success.

Yes, I have checked with the sch I wished to appeal and the form given to me was a \"Transfer\" form. I was also told by the sch head that only if someone transfer out of the sch, else there will be no chance that they will look into the 'appeal'.

Personally, I think distance should be an important consideration. The schools that we have chosen for our DS takes about 40-45 minutes to travel from home. That is about the longest we can tolerate, especially if you are talking about commuting 5-6 days a week.
