I have a dd for 2015 PSLE. I dont think it is too early. This year end there will be streaming, determine HCL or normal CL, etc in her school.

mother777 - my dd is the same; does her homework at night and plays during the day. while I am

        Pinkybear,

Most of the kids now a days are showing this behaviour.
I feel that partially it’s my mistake as I have been giving her too much guidance.

This year I am going to let her make her own decisions (of course I will watch over her like mother hen).
If she never does her homework, I will not remind her. Will only give a gentle clue by asking if she has any task from school?
I will not tell her to practice her Chinese spelling, or prepare for any test. If she cannot remember that tomorrow she has got an exam… Then god help her…

Just keeping my fingers crossed that she learn to be responsible for her actions or face the consequences.

It's time for kids to grow up, already in P3 and still want to spoon fed is not something I can digest.

Hopefully she will learn a lesson from today's incident.
Even though it pains me a lot to see her cry, have to harden my feelings towards her.. Too much pampering is no good...
I have a soft spot for the girl...and she knows it :slapshead: I am not a slave driver with her but definitely with my boy bcos he was in upper primary.
My girl is independent and will do work on her own without having to remind...but the quality is not there. Anyway, I am still adjusting to the different after-school hours with both of them.

My DS also receive the Eng spelling and Dictation list yesterday. This P4 year is critical because there will still be streaming. Those who cannot cope with the subject will have to do foundation subject in P5 next year aside from HCL or CL. So need to work hard to maintain or excel.

Hi Janet, I understand your feelings. It's difficult to zoom in zoom out from one kid's need to another.

After 1 month of holiday and relaxation, my DD has become quite relaxed.

She made me very angry today.
She forgot to mention she got lot of homework till late at night. In fact she is crying and doing it right now.
I told her it's her mistake since she never complete the homework in the afternoon.

11 plus is too late. But I agree with you that they need to learn a lesson. My DD also same. Play all the way and wait for me to ask whether there is any HW. Luckily for my DD, no homework yesterday.

Went to DS Meet-the-parents last Wednesday, the English teacher shown us a sample of the composition, no longer four picture story board but three unrelated pictures.

He was saying they can choose one picture to write about or put these three pictures and create an essay.

Don’t know what he meant…really stress!!

This new English Syllabus only start at P4. Think the composition topic is so wide and is base on kids creativity to come out with story line. I wonder how they mark the relevancy. Will the kid write out of point if given this situation? It also quite difficult to train the kid. At least it is good that the teacher show you the change beginning of the term. For my DS school, the meet the teacher session is end of Term 1.

OMG! but are there any compo books showing such picture compo’s for our reference or so…

I always find that the compo’s done at school are not enough for our kids to master them…
