The agent will pro-rate the fee for the tutor. If the tutor has only given your child 3 lessons, her fee will be the fee from 3 lessons divided by 2 (half for agent; half for tutor). She has taught 3 lessons. I've paid the agent for the first two lessons. Is there a minimum period that i nid to engage the tutor?
what is the best way to pay her for that one lesson? In the past,i've encountered the tutor called n scolded me coz she didn't receive the first payment fr. agent(long story,at the end,it was the tutor's fault, coz she gave the wrong branch code to the agent). The tutor is Mrs Chen,ex-teacher fr. lakeside pri.beware! She even threaten me that she'll bring me & agent to small claims.Anyway, the amt is only S$30.
I think i've no luck in getting a good tutor.vinegar:
My students switch on the air-con or fan, as Singapore is quite warm and the rooms can be stuffy. Tutors don't wander around their students' houses, unless the parents offer to show them around.Chk wf u, do u on the aircon when the tutor is here? Do u allow ur tutor to look ard a house?

The tuition centre we used was called EdQuest just next to United Square. The tutors are all China nationals so DCs oral was good. They produce their own worksheets which are used also by the group tuition. I used them only because I wanted some structure to the 1-1 tuition. They followed the text book very closely and will also mark the exam papers that your DC does as practice.just relax,

Can someone recommend a home tutor for English Literature? My son found it difficult as it’s a new subject.
Please PM. No agent please.

The agent told me that she is teaching in New Town Primary school, when i chk, there is no such teacher. When I asked the agent, she said she might hv quit.
I asked the agent to get her to bring her certificates on the 1st day,she didn't bring, claimed that she is in the mid of shifting to new home, misplaced her cert.
How could she have misplaced her certificates that she had taken time, money and effort in achieving?
Moreover, she needs it for her career!!! -

This sounds ridiculous to me! I kept all my O level, A level and degree certificates properly. But I do not know where my PSLE cert is! Heck! Hope the parents do not ask for them.vinegar:

I don't believe that tutors from China know how to teach Chinese. :imanangel:
They are often charlatans or hypocrites. They pretend that they are excellent in their command of language, but unfortunately, from my second-hand experience of listening to my neighbour's complaint against a Chinese tutor recently, I realized that these tutors don't explain to their students on how to study for Chinese, but ironically, they make students disdain Chinese much more by ordering them to write the characters on and on. This is rote learning, not learning naturally. :clubmyself: -
Hi, I'm a part-time tuition agent. For my tuition agency, my supervisor told me that if a tutor who wishes to sign up but refuse to prove their credentials to them or show to the parent, that tutor would be strike off the list immediately.
Then again, there are also tutors who are quite sensitive about their credentials (which I don't know why
) and will not want to show the agency and will only show the parents on the first day of lesson. But all in all, he told me that its a standard to show the certifications nowadays?
So if a tutor do not want to show you, I personally think they might not have the cert in the first place
