Am not too sure about the lower primary but for upper primary:-
      \tACE Publications
      Pr 5 Science Misconceptions (Systems)\t\t
      \tPr 5 Science Misconceptions (Cycles)\t\t
      \tPr 6 Science Misconceptions (Interactions)\t\t
      \tPr 6 Science Misconceptions (Energy)
yesterday was at Popular Simei branch, closing down sale.
      This Sunday is last day.
Yes, saw all of them there, only a few copies left.

They are found at the \"Primary Science \" section (walk straight all the way in from the entrance, till the end). I saw / found :-
      2nd shelf from the bottom.

      - Pr 5 Science Misconceptions (Systems) and (Cycles) - both together cost $ 6.75

      - Pr 6 Science Misconceptions (Interaction) and (Energy) - both together cost $ 6.75

      but there wasn't any P3 / P4 Science Misconception. Think ACE didn't produce P3 / P4.

Is that one of the reason why most of the kids are not able to score well in Science?

:skeptical: meaning no tuition, so most kids not able to score well in science? :scared:

Don't worry, Jedamum.. Not true that one must have tuition to score well in Science..

My DS1 did not have tuition in Science and he got A* in Science for PSLE.. I never coach him too.. All credit should go to his school teachers who had coached and guided him well in all aspects.. :salute:

I remember DS' teachers telling us that the child must read widely to do well in Science.. So, expose your child to lots of reading, like books (NOT only textbooks), magazines, journals, even booklets & brochures picked up at Science Centre.. That would widen the scope & depth of your child's knowledge (& most importantly, his interest) in Science.. 😄

          Thanks firefly.

But my son no time to do reading at p5.:( could be an interest issue.
So Starting my p1 😓 early! He loves non fiction reading and has plenty of time to read.

I read through the 2 P5 misconceptions books, got lost in the midst already. I’m agog at what kids have to know these days. It’s very impressive…impressively scary that is.

I got the P3 Science Explorer, there are some explanatory notes and also some misconceptions. Got Ds1 to try it out. Quite challenging. I had fun working out some of the mcq with him. Dun dare to look at the Challenging series yet…it’ll probably be that - challenging.

Thanks for recommending this series. P3 yes, still quite alright. I will be really scared come P5/6.

Science explorer, P3, P4 by same publisher and author and place in the same area, do list some misconceptions along with qns.

Daughter will be tested 5 topics under Diversity for CA1…leaving out bacteria/fungi and material. For SA1, everything under Diversity…Term 3 will start Cycles. So I bought ‘Science Weekly’ for P3 and P4. Most schools teach Systems for P3 in the second half.

It’s wiser to buy the top school exam papers and let the child practise answering the relevant questions in Section A and B. Just select the questions for the topics that will be coming out for test, let the child tackle the questions independently. Do marking and from the mistakes the child make, you will have to revise that part of the topic with your child to clear his doubt and ensure that he knows why he made the mistakes. By following the method I recommend, I have seen many children scoring Band 1. It’s really easy to score marks in P3 Science : )

Oops! Not forgetting to mention that the child must know to spell basic Science vocabulary words.

all the best for your dd 🙂

Daughter had holistic assessment aka CA since P1…this year no difference. CA1/CA2 10%, SA1 20% and SA2 60%. Have to revise from start with every tests…but I choose those areas she is weak in…then school holidays we will revise and try to work on other sections…finish as much as possible in Nov/Dec.

As for Science, there is no such thing as too many assessment bcos we are talking about exams from P3-6.
