Amount of money --> 72 units
1 sweet --> 72 units/24 = 3 units
1 chocolate --> 72 units/18 = 4 units

8 sweets --> 8 x 3 units = 24 units
Money left --> 72 units - 24 units = 48 units
Number of chocolates bought --> 48 units / 4 units = 12

I can solve this question using the guess and check method. But i couldnt find an alternative method the guess and check method. can anyone help me?

1 unit + 34 + 28 = 2 units
1 unit --> 62

at first, apples --> 124, oranges --> 192

you can also work backwards:
In the end,
Oranges --> 1u
Apples --> 1u + 28

At first, there were 68 more oranges than apples:
Oranges --> 2u
Apples --> 1u+28
So, 1u --> 28+68= 96

Oranges--> 192,
Apples --> 124
