        24 sweets --> 18 chocolates
        8 sweets --> 6 chocolates
        18 - 6 = 12
        He bought 12 chocolates.

        cheers.

            Above a ratio type Qn? Don't quite understand the concept, can use model to solve?[/quote]Same amount of money could buy 24 sweets OR 18 chocolates.
            Amount of money --> 72 units
            1 sweet --> 72 units/24 = 3 units
            1 chocolate --> 72 units/18 = 4 units

            8 sweets --> 8 x 3 units = 24 units
            Money left --> 72 units - 24 units = 48 units
            Number of chocolates bought --> 48 units / 4 units = 12

            cheers.

              Alan gets $4 more pocket money than Jane every week. Both of them spend $17 on food each week and save the rest of their pocket money. When Alan saves $84, Jane saves only $60. How much pocket money does Alan get in 4 weeks?

              Thanks.

                Amount Alan saved more than Jane per week --> $4
                Total amount Alan saved more than Jane --> $84 - $60 = $24
                Number of weeks --> $24/ $4 = 6

                Alan's savings per week = $84/6 = $14
                Alan's pocket money in 4 weeks = $(14+17) x 4 = $124

                cheers.
