My daughter is keen to join the school concert band or the string ensemble as her CCA. Can anyone share with me what are the prerequsite to get into school concert band or the string Ensemble in RV? Is it difficult to get in these CCAs?

I have chit chatted with some RV's students and they told me that for performing arts, there will be auditions. I am sure there will be an orientation camp where all the CCAs will show case individually and the students will then have a chance to find out more.

All CCAs in RV require auditions and test. My girl used to be in choir in primary school, still did not get in choir of RV after the audition. There is no prerequisite.

In fact, she could not get into any of the performing arts, although she has some background in both choir and drama. So sad right ..... In the end, she was being selected for a sport and infocomm which she did well in the trial and test.

The registration at RV was uneventful. Just went to register, buy uniforms, buy books, rent lockers and then went back. There was no briefing by the principal or staff. There is a big walk for all RVians on 2 Jan 10 and the Sec 1 new students are invited to participate, though not much details were shared 2day.

The big walk is the big day, with school tour and other events. I would not be walking but would be going to the school to tour tour, see see. Its my first time to the new campus too. 😄

My daughter wanted so much to continue dance as her CCA. Spoken to girls in RV dance, they told me only around 20 were accepted last year. Out of the 20, few could have been taken up via DSA already. Why is it so difficult just to take up something they like as CCA ? Sigh.

Actually, dd has no regrets she was not choosen into choir or drama although she wanted them so much. Because she has discovered the other side of her interest and she learn a very big lesson - never be afraid to take up new challenge even it is a difficult one. 😄

Like my hubby always say, expose her to many different areas. Who knows, her talent is somewhere else, not discover yet. 😄

Very true ! It is through all these opportunities that they discover their interest and talent. My elder daughter discovered hers when she was in Sec 1 and has been so passionate about it till now.

Must go to new campus to see see! My dd said, the broadcast announcement system sound like shopping center announcement. 😄

I am so eager to see the $79million campus and the 850-seater performing arts auditorium. 😄 😄
