Depressed over p3 results

Dont be discourage. I think its normal. From now to SA1, ask yr ds to work hard and play during school holiday. I told my dd she has to work hard for SA1, if the result is good, she can play the whole time during June holidays. Otherwise I will swap her with assessment books during June holiday. She seems to be serious, remember to do her homework, wrote a good Chinese Compo, etc

A routine needs to be worked out. With my own kid, I work out a study schedule for him. I’m not there to supervise him all the time. Every night only have time to clear doubts for homework then he needs to sleep already. His homework must be done before I reach home.

agree with TheAnswer.I believe in regular revision, easier for him to catch up also.
My boy doesn’t do homework automatically, except Science n Maths. I’ve to sit besides to monitor him,if not,he’ll move ard.
Everyday,I allocate 1hour to do quick revision. If he has homework n tuition, then no revision. But there’ll be 2 to 3hours revision every wkend PM.
TheAnswer, who take care ur boy when u r out? -
I dont supervise much and dont assign extra hw for my kid as I believe they already have a lot from school. The CA1 results show she’s still doing ok (compared to cohort mean and she has maintained that lead). This should be fine right? No need to be too KS right? My kids have no tuition (except Chinese creative writing). I dont want to add pressure to her for nothing.

My mum will take care of him. We stay quite close. My mum used to work in SAF, army style. DS knows that his grandma is the no nonsense type so never try to be funny around her. My mum is more fierce than me.agree with TheAnswer.I believe in regular revision, easier for him to catch up also.

Only when finish the allocated work then can relax. My DH insist that no work for DS on the weekends or public holidays so everything must do on weekdays. -
I always teach him ahead of school. Usually on Tuesdays, June hols, Nov hols, Dec hols as I have more time then. He rarely has problems with his work. My DH also can teach him but he is plain lazy.

I am depressed over DD1 p5 results. We seldom let her do extra assessment books. In fact, from pri1 to pri4, she didnt have a single Chinese assessment book!
p5 is really a big gap from p4. DD1 was a good student up to p4. She had always toggled between band1 and high band2. But this yr she failed both language papers and 50s each for Math & Science!
I told my husband her failure is our fault. We did the minimum
and results showed. -
After last year’s PSLE, I have a different perspective…not that I bochap…but I see results in a broader view…I still plan CA/SA revision. In fact, daughter in P3 started SA revision for Math last night.
CA/SA is important…not the results but the understanding and foundation of subjects. What I can’t stand is the word ‘holistic’. CA is still CA…same goes for SA which covers oral, compo and language. Frankly it is just a play of words.
Hubby and I want to avoid mistakes made earlier when son was in primary school. So we plan to start younger one for Math tuition before she goes to P5…which is a torture where Math is concerned.
Education is a long journey…I cannot afford to get burnt out before kids reach O levels. -

Hubby and I still cannot forget the poor results over son's P5 results...he was in high band 2 up till p4. No offence...we were both hands-on with him. Even then, his Math failed badly...the others were marginal passes.I am depressed over DD1 p5 results. We seldom let her do extra assessment books.
