Hi Melissaryan, seems that GYPS is full house for P1 2013. Foreigners, ie. non-PR had to do balloting for the final phase - first time for GYPS. I think because they are now in a brand new building with very good facilities. The learning environment is not stressful, plus teachers are very caring and dedicated - my son absolutely love his P1 experience. I expected him to cry on the 1st day, but no, …he settled in so well and told me how he love the school and his teachers. The students are from diverse background - Japanese, American, Italian, South American, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese…it feels like an International School, just without the exorbitant school fees. As a parent, I’m so pleasantly surprised…Also, the senior kids are so respectful of teachers and visitors and very polite, which reflects very well on how the school nurtures their students.

I noticed when I tell neighbours I am thinking of sending my girl to GY, they would give me the look, like maybe u should reconsider, or why not kuo chuan? What exactly is wrong with GY?

Parents of existing students, any regrets? How are the teachers? Are they caring?

              Dear parents,

I m considering sending my girl to Guangyang. Need help from parents of children who has been in GYPS for the past 2 years to advise how has the experience been so far? Any progress over the past few years under the new principal? We live within 1 km to Aitong but we are thinking of giving our girl a more balanced and enjoyable primary school life and hopefully at the same time have adequate preparation for PSLE at the of it… Heard good reviews on GYPS so would like to find out more.

              Thank you very much

Hi, I am considering all schools within my area for my so, who will be primary one in 2014. We are not very keen on a branded school and was wondering about how Guangyang Primary is now. I will appreciate if any parent could feedback about their personal experience about the school. i.e. the syllabus, the teachers, the CCAs. Anything about the school.Thank u in advcance.

Got to know that Guangyang Primary School is very strong in performing arts, especially in Handbells. Check out the school website....

I like the website, can feel the \"vibrancy\" of the school. 🙂 Heard from someone I know in the school that they will be organising a parent seminar in Bishan CC in July. Worth attending if you want to find out more about the school.

                    Dear parents,

We just relocated back to Singapore for good from HK and we were searching around our area (Bishan) for a primary school for our 2 kids.

Initially I had contacted Ai Tong and Kuo Chuan for my older one but they had put her on waitlist. Being "kiasu" and don’t want to end up no school for my daughter, I contacted MOE and they introduced GYPS to me.

I have no info and ideas how GYPS has been performing, but I just don’t want to put up my kids in a school which stress them up. Branded or not branded, it really doesn’t matter to me, just that I want my children to grow up and learn in an good environment with a good balance on study and childhood.

My kids were studying international school before when they were in HK and thanks god that the curriculum was not very tensed and stressful, and they emphasized more on developing the kids creativity.

Back to GYPS, when I asked around, all my friends and other colleagues gave me that kind of face when I mentioned the school name… "are you sure or not… a lot of ah beng there… bla bla bla, etc".

Can anyone of you give me some highlights how you feel about GYPS?
                    Millions thanks.

                      Hi New2SgEdu

my child is there! And for the past 2 years, i find the school is really partnering her parents in education. They will constantly update us about our kids progress and provide suggestions how to help our kids. In terms of curriculum, i think across the board is the same, since MOE will approve the syllabus and what schools should teach, base on age appropriate. As for surrounding, the school is there in their existing building for about 2 years? As such, many facilities are still pretty new. We had a tour of the building before, they have many state of the art facilities to carry out the programmes. And my kid looks forward to attending school every day!

And i know that there was a year, the kids were invited to the Istana to perform in front of our president, PM and ministers. If the kids there are really so ‘ah beng’ i guess, they also wont be invited to such a session.

As a parent, i think the school is doing her best to teach and educate the children. However, we as parents also have to play our part, to help teach our kids. After all, this is a school, 1 teacher to 30 kids, also not quite easy to manage.

Hi New2SgEdu, saw your post, couldn't resist to share what I know about Guangyang Primary School.

I have a close friend and her 2 children went to Guangyang Primary. The older two boys graduated and they did well for PSLE! Teachers I heard, are very caring and they will go a very long way to motivate the children especially during stressful PSLE. Anyway, my friend has trusted her youngest daughter to Guangyang Primary this year. Now she is in Primary One. The little girl is enjoying school.

Have you checked out the school website? I like it, they have interesting programme for the children. You could tell the children are genuinely happy. 🙂

My friend says that Guangyang Primary is going to have an Open House next week or so. Call them to find out? It will be good, right?

                        Take care!
