Thanks to all your reply. Yes, I’ve read that there is a new syllabus for RAD grade 1-3. I think since RAD is new to her, it might be better for her to learn from grade 1. I want her to enjoy dancing, not going to stress her even though I’m a little concern. ^_^

What is the difference between CSTD and RAD?

My child’s ballet teacher prepares them for CSTD, Australian grading.

Significant diff would be Cstd from australia. Rad from uk. With rad having a longer history.

If my child is in P6 and want to apply DSA, does the secondary school look at ballet is learnt at RAD or CSTD?

you need to check the unique, specific requirements inside the DSA form, for that particular Secondary school.

                  example:-
requirement for P6 pupils trying to DSA into \"SCGS Secondary \" are : -
Dancing currently at minimum grade 5 , for either RAD or CSTD Ballet .

                  refer SCGS DSA form :-
                  http://scgs.edu.sg/pdf/DSA_2012/DSA_CCA.pdf

                  refer
                  \"http://scgs.edu.sg/pdf/DSA_2012/DSA_Application_Form_2012%28ApplicantName%29.pdf \"
(remove the quote first before hit <Enter>, because the link too long)

you need to check the respective, particular Secondary school's DSA requirements. Not all Secondary schools allow DSA, via ballet.

                  example :-

                  i)
there is no DSA via ballet into Raffles Girls' Secondary.
But, RGSS allow DSA via Sports instead.
But, ballet doesn't come under Sports category.
ballet comes under Performing Arts (Dance) category.

                  ii)
                  MGS Secondary (Bukit Timah) -

As for DSA Performing Arts category, it is open for pupils who demonstrate outstanding talents / achievements in dance with Grade 5 RAD, or its equivalent. Do note that formal dance training exclude school-based SYF training.

MGS Secondary is having an Open House on 18 May (Saturday), from 8.30am to 2.30pm.
You may visit the school website, find out more about DSA process into Secondary One:-

Hi, I am newbie with this Forum. Currently looking for a new ballet school for my girl (K2). Started ballet last October with Crestar (Hougang).

Given a choice between SBA and TSOD, which one should I go to?
(considering not knowing at this point of time if my girl will stay with ballet for a long time but would like her to get the right exposure and teacher whom can inspire and engage her while teaching the right techniques and have fun?)

                    Would appreciate any advice

Hi, I’m staying in Kovan area and would like to find a good ballet school (including those classes conducted in CCs) for my 4yo.

                      Any recommendations? Thanks!
