Culturally I realized both schools are very different. I wonder how many girls are actually like that in that school or is the open house more a façade than reality? I try to match my kids to the school's culture by looking at the behavior displayed at the open house. Is that realistic?
actually it's hard to tell the actual behaviour of the girls during open house. it's better to ask parents in the thread what the school culture is like and maybe they might share with you 'insider news'.

personally, the more TOP a school is, the more competitive the girls/boys will be.

when daughter was in primary school, i didn't really feel the intensity. but this year sec 1, i can sense a certain level of stress, but it is due to her wanting to do well, which should be a good thing. it is realistic to match the child's character to the school. if she is the type who can live with pressure, a top school will provide that challenge.

My kids are very driven. Likely due to school culture since I’m obviously not the on the ball kind ever since I became a sahm. But I have abit of double standard lah. Only I can nua. If they are so free can idle I will arrow them house chores and packing/tidying tasks

So I went to both top girl schools open houses recently. It is my first time doing so although I have been to one of the girl school several times by now. Culturally I realized both schools are very different. I wonder how many girls are actually like that in that school or is the open house more a façade than reality? I try to match my kids to the school's culture by looking at the behavior displayed at the open house. Is that realistic?

You can get a sense of what a school is like at its \"best\" at open house - because they showcase what they think is the \"best\" of the school. But with so many students, no school can be so uniform. My daughter as from one of the schools you probably visited, and although many students are competitive, not all are. On the other hand, expectations are high, so the less driven or less able will probably feel some (or a lot of) stress. It's best to try to get feedbacl from individuals, especially those who have personality and ability similar to your kids.

                For me ,
I like to talk to the students about their experience , personalise the questions- what do they like the most in sec school , how is sec school diff from pri, what they found tough to adjust, which subject they like, how is that teacher , how do the teachers help if a student is on mc, or goes to attend competition, CCAs experience and commitment, what time they sleep, ... Talk to a few , do remember that experience is dependent more on the personality of the child than just the school. I just like to know if the children are really liking their school, is there a joy , enthu when they talk about things they say they like, are they at home ...

I find window shopping very tiring. Spent 3.5 hours at IMM this afternoon 脚酸+累

One of the open houses I attended, noticed students all seem so 乖 and 文文静静的. Questions I asked them I received 1 sentence reply.
I decided to strike that school off my list after open house. Maybe most parents would have good impression.
It's just me. Personal preference. I don't particularly fancy 乖乖牌的 😂
