next Thursday and Friday (26 and 27 May 2011) is PMT (parents meet teachers' session) for AM and PM children respectively.

the time allocation slot for each child will be issued out soon.
look out for the form in your child's schoolbag.
each child is allocated 15 mins - feedback on individual child's progress by form teachers.

I have been a silent observer of this thread as I am one of those parents planning to register my child on 5 July for Pre-nursery.

I am still undecided between the am session and pm session.

Would my girl still be able to sign up for any enrichment prog if I sign her up for pm session?

Pls advise.

Yes, you can still sign up for enrichment lessons, if your child study PM session.

N1 no enrichment, too young. Enrichment starts from N2 – K2.

a)\tfor PM session kids (11.45 am – 3.45 pm), enrichment is 1 hour duration in the morning (before school starts), 10.15 am – 11.15 am.

b)\tfor AM session kids (8 am – 12 noon), enrichment is 1 hour duration in the afternoon (after school ends), 12.15 pm – 1.15 pm.

AM session kids who wish to order lunch before starting enrichment classes at 12.15 pm may, do so. Kindly inform Auntie Ong (in house kitchen chef) in advance.

on that day of enrichment, label your child’s lunch box with your child’s name. Pass the lunch box to Auntie Ong. Lunch costs $1 per box.

to decide between AM or PM session, first settle school bus issue - got school bus transport to fetch your child ?

kids staying at Toa Payoh and Bishan very lucky. Got school bus transport, for both sessions. Both AM and PM sessions also have! Inside the school bus for each session, 90% kids stay in Bishan, remaining 10% stay in Toa Payoh.

but kids staying far away eg: Serangoon, Kovan, Hougang, Lorong Ah Soo, Braddell, Upper Paya Lebar, Aljunied Crescent, Kallang Bahru, etc. – heard that only got school bus provided for PM session kids, but not for the AM session. Only got school bus for 1 session, not both sessions. Please confirm with Auntie Ong.

reason: traffic jam very bad along Pan island expressway (PIE) early morning. Auntie Ong not willing to fetch AM kids staying so far away, where school bus get stuck in the bad jam along PIE early morning, around 7 am.

In such case for AM session, maybe your spouse, in-law or you can drive your child everyday to Newton kindy early morning (be it heavy rain or shine), before 8 am starts for AM.

do settle school bus issue first. This can be a deciding factor to enrol your child for AM or PM session, on 5 July. If not sure, can call Auntie Ong first, at tel: 9455-3509

for N2-K2 kids who need school bus transport to bring your child to school for enrichment lesson days at 10.15 am (for PM kids), or bring your child home after enrichment end at 1.15 pm (for AM kids), also contact her.

lagi best …. are those kids staying at ‘Newton condo 18’, right beside our kindy. No need to take school bus. Just come downstairs, walk a few steps is Newton kindy.

Any idea if they do penmanship in pre-nursery? And the progression of writing? In both EL and CL?

Sorry, my child not from Newton N1, not sure. Perhaps ask P to show you sample N1 worksheets again, or other parents whose child currently in N1, or ever study in N1 before can comment. Thank you.

Hi all, any comments regarding writing and its progression in N1 for Newton Kindy?

regarding next Thursday and Friday PMT (Parents meet Teachers) session on 26 and 27 May, for feedback on your child’s learning progress for past Term 1 and Term 2 - for those who can’t apply / take leave easily from work to come on that morning, you may arrange with your child’s form teacher to … let you have it first thing in the morning. Means your child will be the first one, right very early in the morning. This way, you don’t have to apply leave.

info ... for N2 PM parents seeking transfer to AM session next year.


for N2, 7 vacancies are now left for transfer to AM session next yr, 2012. if any N2 parent is interested, may request for the transfer now. Inform Mrs. Tan. Come 2012, your child can be in K1, AM session.

however, do resolve school bus issue first. Ensure that:-

i) your child can wake up early, eat breakfast quickly.

ii) got school bus go your house early in the morning to fetch your child.

iii) on those days where your child take enrichment lessons, got school bus fetch your child home, after the enrichment end.
