All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

Congrats Intermezzo and Steppy on your purchase. Bechstein has very mixed reviews but as long as the pianist is happy and the family is happy, it's good
By the way, Steppy, can you PM me the price of your K8. May have someone who's interested. Thanks. -

kekeke must post picture some more..? yup the piano is beautiful but i thought all pianos look sama-sama leh...Another uncommon piano. You bought yours from Cristofori at Funan? Did the sales guy play 'The Last Waltz' as demo? That's what he did for me every time I went there few years back. He played on the C Bechstein upright there - very nice. Wish son can play like that.
Can post some pics of your beautiful piano too?
it's just a normal upright piano, about 125 cm tall.. not an upright-grand if that's what you mean?
didn't get to hear the Last Waltz for demo.. what a pity..
maybe the guy wasn't there on that day.. we had to demo DIY..
so which piano did u get? -

Congratulations, Intermezzo!! Bechstein-A1 is a wonderful piano based on many reviews. My daughter had a chance to play both Bechstein-A1 and Bechstein-124 few months back and our family loved the tone of both pianos. I am not sure how to describe the color of the tone, but it is definitely crystal clear, pure and sweet. Somehow, it reminded me something similar to the Grotrian-132 that we tried a year ago at Pianomaster. Enjoy!!

Yalor, Last Waltz contains some arpeggios which made for beautiful music.

I got the Sauter M1 in the end. Very nice piano too - even had my son's name engraved on it. So now if I ever have to sell this piano for whatever reason, I just need to find a buyer with the same name as my son. :yikes: -
Whatβs your sonβs name? I donβt mind a Sauter. Perhaps I should name my future son after yours just so that I can buy it off you! Haha!
-
Great! So engraving my son's name into the M1 isn't such a dumb thing to do financially after all, hahaha.

FQW:
wow.. is that the IN thing to do? i remember another forumner here, markfch also engraved his son's name on his Sauter?

yup it's hard to tear myself from the piano keke.. which is why i haven't been back in this forum for so long.. doesn't leave much time for housework keke...
wow your daughter must be very pro to play on so many good pianos.. Grotrian is definitely gorgeous.. i guess she plays at concerts quite often? -
My experience with all the salespersons/owners of the Piano shops in Singapore has been a pleasant one. I let my daughter try different pianos when possible, from the less known brand to the top of the rank without any prejudice. She picked up piano seriously only 1 1/2 years ago. Still far from playing at concerts, may be one day...

i'm sure she'll have a wonderful learning journey, with all the support and encouragement you're giving her ~ -
I am looking at a few advertisements on the secondhand Yamaha Lu series (LU90 and LU100 to be exact) piano. They cost between SGD1500 to SGD2500, depending on the manufacturing years.
Is there any difference between Yamaha LU90 and Yamaha LU100? Where can I find information about Yamaha LU series? -
Hi all,
I donβt have high budget, no experience in music and piano. Seriously to me all piano sound and look the same. My girl is going for G1, but Iβm not sure how long she is going to play.
Iβm considering a brandnew Hailun 125cm, as the Jap brand are too costly and taking a 2nd hand is rather risky as I have no experience at all.
Anyone has any review on HaiLun and if its a good buy? -
I would recommend Hailun HL125 to my students. Few competitors can match its quality for the price.

I second that. :boogie: -
:hi5: to Hailun.
We were shopping for a 2nd hand piano until we checked out Hailun. We made 3 trips to Piano Master and Jason was very patient with us and answered all our questions.
We were eventually sold and bought one...but we paid a bit extra for the H5 instead of the HL125. It's been with us for 8 months now, and we think it's money well spent. I know it can't be compared to the European pianos, but at the price it's selling, it's value for money.
@MummyofStars: you have PM. -
Hi markfch, FQW
So envious of your Sauters.
so glad too to find this forum.
We visited Alvin just before he moved out of the VCH and was really tempted.
But my senses prevailed n we went for a second hand schimmel instead.
If I were to upgrade to an upright, would definitely consider the sauter again!
markfch, I share your approach to learning music. Has your son been with the same teacher all through the 4 years? He started really young. How Iβd he learn to read notes?
It was just as well we bought secondhand cos DS only had piano lessons for two months before quitting!
Hoping to get him back. Any advice?
Sorry I may be posting this at the wrong forum. -
