I’m staying with my PIL in my FIL’s house - at his request and numerous pleadings with me, even though there are so many clashes and unhappiness.

For #1’s first month, we did it at home. We had a lot of problems after that, even though the people we invited are MIL’s relatives! how absurd can this be? We had another one at my mum’s place for my own relatives and our friends…

From then on, we actually hold the other two first months outside, not at the house anymore.

          Mrs Ang,
Yah, I think you just invite lah. At least when your DD looks back, she will still see the fotos that these people are there because her mum is still bothers to invite them for a 'complete' pic. At the very least, your MIL still cares for her mah...

Another way of viewing at things - at least your PIL are the people who gave you your DH... so invite them lah. If they chose not to come, at least you 问心无愧!

Yes, my mil care for DD in a certain percentage only. DD is her first and only grandchild till now but she view herself more impt. Unlike other mils that I heard who will take care of their grandchildren no matter what. My mil just throw the ball back to me at the very last min and still trying to continue this game.

          Mrs Ang,
Sorry huh, I didn't want to be seen as the MIL supporter. If you have looked back on this thread, you will read my 'stories'. I've been through you have had experienced.

I just wanna tell you that MIL has no obligation to look after your children. They looked after theirs already and maybe they like to have their own life back. So we hor, better take care of our own.

It's ok...don't need to apologise. I understand that mil has no obligation. I didn't force her either but then she shouldn't have done so many things to make me :x . I will not be staying so far away if not for her :stupid:

We often judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intent.

I too think grandparents have no obligation to look after grandkids. If they express a lot of affection and love for them, well and good, if they don't it'll be disappointing and hurtful, but ultimately, they have done their duties in life and we can't hold it against them for being disinterested. Thankfully, mine (both sides) have been swell so far :xedfingers:

Your post got me thinking. There're some forumers here with outstanding traits that I admire. How I wish ds can have the following combination of attributes:

                    a) chief's analytical skills
                    b) automnbronze's poetry talent
                    c) ksi's EQ
                    d) schewepes's story telling skills
                    e) verykiasu2010's suaning talent
                    f) Way2Go's humour
                    g) buds's patience
                    h) Blobbi's piano & english power
                    i) 3Boys's debating skills
                    j) Tamarind's chinese power

Perfect 10! Hope I'm not too greedy hor 😉 .

Wah if ds really can have the combination of talents above, then all the top sch's principals will come knocking at my door and I'll ask them why I should let ds join their schs, instead of the other way round
