pirate:Don't forget Horrible Science too.
Tell you a secret, real GEP never read those books in so called \"GEP\" rec list. LOLzac's mum:
My son is currently in P4. He passed round 1 of GEP screening last year but didn't get through the 2nd round. We subsequently discovered that he does test in the gifted range, in particular in maths & science related areas. Are there any books used by GEP that might be useful for him to expand his knowledge and stop his never-ending refrain of \"I'm bored\".
I recommend the \"Murderous Maths\" series of books as fun reading material.
And GEP is a joke. There is a so called Creative Writing Programme organized by this GEP branch every yeasr. My first child two years ago failed to be selected. This year my second child used the same essay to get selected.
@Brando glad to hear that the medication is working well for your son and the amazing turnaround! Did you managed to obtain accommodations from the GEP program for your son’s twice exceptionality?
We have just received the full neuropsychological report and still trying to figure how we should approach the school and MOE for accommodations for our son’s giftedness and dyslexia…should we just send the entire neuropsychological report to the school principal? 😅

And to add, these GEP kids are gifted as per the criteria MOE has set (i.e. English, Math, logical reasoning, patterns, top 1% of those who take the screening tests...), there are definitely other kids who are gifted in other ways not measured by the GEP selection tests...!gep kids or mainstream kids, they're the same in terms of playfulness, social skills, general characteristics, etc. Kids are just kids, gifted or not
Only difference is their processing speed, able to process info at faster pace and a bigger hard disk space to store more data -

Seems like no news yet. No one posted about receiving the legendary big yellow envelope
Spoken to the P when picking kid up today. P said she has not received anything yet (she should be the first one to know right). So perhaps MOE release it by batches...? Like Round 1?? -

According to my dd, IQ test much more detailed, GA questions aren't quite similar to IQ test questions. Although I doubt she remembered much of those IQ test questions since that was quite some years ago.Not sure if GEP test is an alternative to Mensa or IQ tests cos I have never seen any. You have?
I did ask her what are the differences but she couldn't relate in a way that I could comprehend. So I gathered it just not the same. Alright, she doesn't have a bright mummy -

DD told me that for General Ability, they were given sample of questions with solutions to look through for 10mins and returned thereafter before started the actual test... so it is more on how fast they pick up materials to learn...

Oh, my dd didn't mention that at all. Need to step up on her communications skills since I always end up with partial info

No worry... I faced the problem with DS 2 yrs back... he didn't even remember what to share with DD for her 1st and 2nd round... so she can only depends on her own ability...

And most of all, an unstressed mind.

During my niece's 2nd round, my sis saw a few kids with papers doing last minute cramping . She wondered if that would be helpful for the kids. -
