Hi buds,
I am currently playing e mystery bag game to reinforce on recognition of letter shapes n name. My dd enjoy e game v much! Thank you so much!
Just now, i went to Page One at vivocity and found some letterland products. I was so excited! I bought a alphabet song cd, handwriting song cd & alphabet frieze. Wanted to buy ABC board book but they do not carry it.
As i had mention above, now im reinforcing on letternames and shapes, can i let her hear e alphabet song cd? I tink its for learning e letter sounds rite? As for alpahbet frieze, its like poster kind which can be paste on wall, but i dun like e idea of pasting on e wall. So shd i show her 1 alphabet at a time or can i continue to show her a few at a time? Basically do you hav any ideas of how shd i go abt with it?
For those who are interested in buying letterland product at Page One, They are next to the shelf of ladybird books, right at e bottom. -

i read that edufarm is using letterland for phonics. as i read from this thread that letterland is good, another qns is whether edufarm teach it well? cuz the wkend class is only next blok and its cheap! save a lot cuz i initially wanted to enrol my 3yr in ICR. ur feedback is appreciated
hence i can't really comment constructively. Letterland in itself is a great
phonics method/pgrm... and as with many other methodologies, it is in the
hands of the facilitator that really counts. I would request the centre allow
me at least one sitting (observation) of the teacher that my child would be
assigned to, so that i can gauge her competency level in knowledge of the
method, her delivery, her speech... & definitely not forgetting her patience
and passion.

Those are good buys, spring. My ABC book of all places i
managed to get it from Popular. I was soooo surprised 2
see it in Popular. If you're really keen, they do sell it on
ebay and you might just get them directly from Francis.
Or you may wish to consider finding out if you can just
ask any Tumble Tots operator for their kind assistance
to get one for you, since they offer Letterland phonics
in all their centres. I got mine over 35 bucks.spring:

you may go right ahead. Using this method, she should
be able to distinguish both simultaneously and be able
to effectively tell the difference. Character recognition
via the songs will also help to enforce the learning of
letters and sounds. The characters makes it fun to

The kids room was like a mini kindergarten and both DDs had their own private teacher..
They had so much fun learning and that's how it should be..

I had contact Francis b4, but for meetup for collection of item is only at toa payoh on sat, quite inflexible, and his charges for registered mail is v expensive, dunno why. :? Den i try to test her n ask \"so annie apple belong to which letters?\" She replied \"a\" so i continue to test her n she can tell me accurately until letter \"g\" which is golden girl. The flashcards tat they r using to teach my dd's age group is bigger which she said its produced by tumble tots. How long had your dd1 been in tumble tots? Abit sidetrack... sometimes im wondering how mummies like you can cope with so many things esp when kids r schooling plus loads of housework? I cant imagine tat cos now my dd is stil young n currently i only hav 1 kid. Can giv some tips how u organise ur time? -

Introducing Letterland Phonics
Some children would have learnt traditional alphabet names.
While showing children the plain sides of the Letterland flash
cards/code cards for Annie Apple, Bouncy Ben... (etc) ... you
can explain how you will be talking about these letters like
this.

Introducing Clever Cat
Introduce Clever Cat by first showing the children the pictogram
side of the card.

They can also share about their own pet cat or any pets in general.

Lead up to writing the letter 'c'.

Materials
1. Drawing block

7. Old newspapers for colouring base
8. Paper plate (optional)

Cup your hand around your mouth to know if you're
saying it correctly... you should feel that warm breath
on your hand when saying the sound... do not add /uh/
to the /c/ sound which makes it \"cuh\". Just a short, curt
whisper... /c/.
Extension Activity
This game idea is from DD1. It's a matching game to play
with your children. Easy to prepare & can use scrap paper.
She use scrap drawing block to roll up into thin sticks for
the holder and she cut out three letter 'c' shapes and 2
other different consonants ) ... coloured them ... pasted
the thin sticks and voila! Ready for game time!
Show children the pictogram and ask them to pick out
Clever Cat's letter shape. It can just be coloured hollow
letters shapes for the children to pick up with their fingers
or add a stick to make them stick letters so that the child
can hold it up for you like a puppet on a stick.

It's ok. You're only teaching one child. Your own child. first reading flashcard should suffice. Anyway, your DD will turn 3yrs in no
time at all. If you get a product suitable for 2-yr old now, you would only
use it a year... or maybe less. Especially since your DD seems to progress
well. Being in Tumble Tots also help since they do Letterland Phonics in the
centre too. Yes, for bigger groups gotta cater differently.spring:

She very kun-niang... very xiao-jie... so i thought boot camp with Tumble
Tots would toughen her up a bit and make her more of an all rounder. She
is great with fine motor skills at a very young age. I suppose the early intro
to Montessori's soft skills played a big part with that and she has very gd
attention span. She can be oblivious to everything else, like people talking
in the background, or someone watching tv and stuff like that..... but she
wud just place all her attention on me when i'm teaching her.
But her gross motor, tsk.. tsk.. cannot make it.
Those cannot hop on one leg kind. Scared to climb... (etc)spring:

by 3 times a week... then when she finally asked the magic question
we knew she was ready. What question, you may ask? Well, on the

her pace. In Montessori we believe in teaching children the right concepts
at the right time. Cos it's when they're most interested to learn about a
certain subject, it's the best time for them to learn and they will pick up a
lot in that span of time. It's termed as the Sensitive Periods. During this
period, sometimes it takes the children almost the least effort to learn as
that is the period when they absorb that topic/area best. So, i'm thinking
your DDs sensitive period is NOW! So... jia-you mummy spring! :celebrate:spring:

at this situation in a more positive light, i get to spend one on one quality
time with each of them. DD2 during the day... and DD1 in the afternoon,
after she gets home from school. It just looks like there won't be much ME

own target kinda housework routine. Plus, he's such a doll. :hugs: He
usually helps me quite a lot around the house. The bulk of the job would
be the never-ending clothings.... :roll: ..... and definitely time to
teach/coach the kiddies with school work & some of my own set of revision.
Seems like late nights are the only quiet time of the day for this year and
the next. That oso if hubs doesn't make noise with me sleeping late KSPing.
I made it my first priority today; to put up the brief guide on introducing
Letterland for you in my post above. Hope it provides clearer picture for
you on how to work with your DD in the days to come with the early
stages in the scheme. Paiseh, took so long to update you on that. Well,

some old stuff i can find from my treasure boxes to see if i can find more
stuff for you and others who are also interested in Letterland.
