CHIJ St Nicholas Girls'

Anyone interested to carpool with a P2 girl via Kembangan or from Kembangan to CHIJ St Nicks. Currently the school bus route is most disadvantageous, first to board and last to alight.
Please pm me.CenturyEgg:
Hi, I have a girl who is in P1. I'm looking for someone to carpool with for her transport to & from school.
Currently my daughter needs to wake up @ 540 to get ready for the schoolbus which comes at 610 & gets her to school by 645, which is unnecessarily early! :snooze:
I'm looking for any parents who live around my area (Braddell Rd near Serangoon side) who send their girls to & from school to see if we could carpool. We can send the girls to school & the other parent can fetch them home after school. I thought of letting her take one-way but that costs $130 as compared to $140 two-way!! :stupid:
Any responses/comments/suggestions welcome! Cheers. :celebrate: -

Hi, you can contact the bus operator to find out:
Mdm Anna Lye
TEL: 94550531
I believe it is easily going to take more than half an hour as the bus driver will pick up students along his route to school.
My girl used to take sch bus in the morning. Although we stay 1.3 km from sch, she has to wake up 6am to prepare herself and bus picked her up at 6.35am to 6.40am. I find it too early and stressful to get her ready, so I decided to drive her to sch instead.vijayjva:

I was told that in order to register for P1 in CHIJ St Nicholas, one of the parents need to be Chinese and that my daughter needs to be fluent in Chinese…anyone can confirm this?

Hmm... never heard of this before. I have seen a few non-Chinese students in St Nicks whom both parents are either Indian or Malay. I don't think the girl needs to be fluent in Chinese but must at least attended Chinese lesson b4. Otherwise, it will be though for the girl to be able to follow in class.

No lah . My daughter had classmate that was malay, but she took Chinese nevertheless, since no other Mother Tongue is available in the school. I'm not sure if the school allows exemption and the child can take classes outside. I heard from a teacher in my boys' school (cath hi) that that option was not available to her own son(non-chinese) who was studying there and he too had to take Chinese. So you'd have to check on this yourself directly with the school. You can always email them St Nic's staff replied email rather promptly. -

she told me that her dd took chinese during kindergarten thus was able to register at this school. to cope with homework, her dd was send for tuition. -

Thank you all. It really helped me.
Now I need to decide between CHIJ St. Nicolas, SCGS, MGS. SInce I didn’t grow up here, I have no idea, besides some top ranking list, why choose one or the other…please tell me your experiences in those schools to help me a little bit with this Big step for P1.

Hi! Everyone here are St Nicks mums? I’m an ex-St Nicks and will be sending my elder gal there for P1 next yr. Anyone of you do not stay within YCK/AMK area and commute to St Nicks? I stay in CCK, did a mock drive (by car) last week to the sch in morning. Journey turns out to be smooth - 20 min+. Any advice from seasoned mums of St Nicks whether there are any concerns of such commuting which I overlook?
