My girl is in P2. We r very blessed ! We think we we got best English/form teacher but not a very good Chinese teacher for 1.5 years.
if u choose MCS, do sign up for parent volunteer. It makes a lot of difference.
If your child is academically inclined, she will find P1 & P2 work quite easy. Otherwise the pace is very comfortable as long as she can read a bit by end k2. MCS has a new principal who's really forward-looking & great leader by example, so parents in PSG are looking forward to positive changes

Thank you @Sembgal. Thanks for the reassurance again. Going to register her under Phase2B which is next week!
I pray this is a right choice we make. :imanangel: sembgal:
Just go for it! There is no other girls' school that is so easy to enrol into if you are residing in Yishun/Sembawang/Woodlands. Learning in a purely girls environment does have the added advantage. Good luck and all the best. I will only reply to this post and one advice to give is grab the chance to enrol in Phase 2C.

Hi SoYouThink
I am having the same doubts as you as I am staying at Sembawang are and wanted so much to send my girl (my one & only) to MCS in 2018. Reg should starts soon i perhaps, like in 1 or 2 months time and we are still contemplating. Friends & family find us crazy why take the troubles to send her to a sch that is so far away from where we stay (if we choose MCS we will have to send her to sch and she will be at student care after that until i fetch her after work).
But by reading so many positive feedback in this forum, i just cannot stop imagine my girl in MCS next year already
and she also has been influenced by us and telling everybody she's going MCS next yr..
If anyone/any kind soul :imanangel: who has their children in MCS now & is currently staying in Sembawang/Yishun, please share your view/comments ya. :thankyou:
:hugs:
Hi all,
We are currently staying in sembawang/yishun area. In a dilemma whether to just send our girl to the nearby neighborhood school or MCS as we see alot of positive feedback on MCS from this forum.
1. How does MCS fare in terms of curriculum (academic) and co-curriculum?
2. How are the teachers and environment in MCS? Is it stressful? Reason is we want our girl to enjoy schooling and learning.
3. Compare to neighborhood schools around sembawang/yishun any difference?
4. Any parents staying in sembawang/yishun sending their kids to MCS at the moment?
I realize that the school is not easily accessible using public transport (bus and MRT). Need to walk quite a distance from the nearest MRT, Caldecott (Unable to cut through upon coming out from Caldecott station). As for the nearest bus stop, I believe it's a distance away.
Appreciate feedback and comments on the above. Thanks in advance. -
Hi Sembgal,
Thanks for the comments. Can you also enlighten us how does Marymount fare academically? -
After visited two girlsโ school (Marymount Convent and school x), I started to develop doubts despite reading the good comments in this forum. Feels that the school didnโt put the right people at the front desk and had overlooked that first impression counts.
These are two typical scenarios I have encountered that spur my doubts.
1. MC- I entered the office, two staff sitting at the front desk cannot detect my presence even after walking right infront of them. (I donโt think I have the size of an ant)
School X- I was waiting at the little window of the admin office but the staff was quick to notice my presence even though there were some students infront of me.
2. MC- a student reported loss of wallet, the staff immediate response was to send the student off to look for her wallet again. The poor child looked helpless.
School X- (students lose wallet everyday) it happened that a very young student had lost her wallet, an older student accompanied her to report lost. The staff had displayed care and patience to understand how the wallet was lost, not forgetting to praise the older student for the help.
Having encountered these instances, which school would you choose?
Seriously, the efficiency of a school and even any organisation is represented by the front desk staff. -
If School X have vacancy for your child, then enrol into X

Hmm, ultimately, the front desk staff are not going to teach your child. During school time, there is minimal interaction with front desk, except to transfer call if you need to call teacher. After visited two girls' school (Marymount Convent and school x), I started to develop doubts despite reading the good comments in this forum. Why would you think front desk staff is a determining factor :? -

I see it as a package. School staff are also educators in some way. One day our children will grow up and join the workforce, they would recall how those adults they have seen carried out their job and the possibility of modeling after (attitude it is)!
And we're talking about Six years of exposure! -
Not so caring will make the kids independent and responsible? Pls lets ask over selves what we do if our kids inform us he/she lost wallet? Don't we ask them to look again?
