Do you restrict his gadget/screen time? If you limit it, he may be forced to read when he has nothing to do. Or you can link amount read to gadget time - a certain no. of pages to gain x minutes of time. And ask for recommendations depending on his interests.hi all!

I let my kids read whatever they want as long I read through them first.
Both my kids has different kind of taste on books they read.My DD like to read about Demi gods and mystery stuffs and my DS like to read things about planets and Science. So I will try to look for books which they like.
To encourage them to read, I think the best way is to start with the topic they like first.
And Gadget is only play during Dec school Holiday. -
My DS does not read much until he discovered the Horrible Science, Horrible History & Horrible Geography series. Now he just just keep on reading…

\"Shall\" and \"will\" are modal verbs. Generally speaking, modals are used to indicate politeness and certainty. For example; 'I will go to school' versusanybody can enlighten when to use \"Shall\" and \"Will\"?
understand from my colleague, for words after the preposition \"to\" we no longer base on present tense, we could also use past tense depending on the sentence?
In the past, it always
Im going to play
Im going to swim
Under what circumstances, we can use
to PLAYED
to SWIMED
Most books i come across doesnt have any explanation on it
thanks
'I shall go to school' - one is more certain than the other.
There are two usage of the word \"to\" in the English language. The first is the infinitive - to. This is used in common expressions such as, \"I need to run for the bus.\" \"Do you want to eat chicken pie tonight?\" \"I'm glad to hear you don't smoke.\" For this type of usage, its impossible to use the past form of the verb directly after the \"to\". You can only use the infinitive (basic) form of the verb. {Its usually confused with the present tense, but grammatically its called the infinitive form}
The second usage is prepositional. When using it as a preposition, the word next to it is usually a noun, pronoun or a gerund. For example, \"I went to the zoo.\" \"I gave the ball to him.\" \"I object vehemently to smoking.\"
So, long answer short. You can never use a verb in past tense immediately after the word \"to\". (Or at least I can't see how...) -

Best to cultivate since young, but if not, get them something they're interested in.

oxford reading tree is good. They can read the book because the black things are letters and the white things are paper, but do they really understand?
They need to learn the concept of cause and effect, and they should be able to elaborate how a story progresses.
Oxford reading tree books are perceptibly simple, but there are many things parents can ask to initiate their cognitive development. -
Hi all, I a father of a 9 yrs old boy. Just wanna share me 2 cents. He reads a lot in my opinion. I can’t say I’ve got special tricks but I sent him to “I CAN READ” before his primary school. I think there’s when the habit starts. I also read him lots of bed time story then and buy him toys which has a book series like Thomas the train.
His a pretty advance reader now so I no longer read to him. But I will bring him to movies thats base on books like “Percy Jackson”, “moral instruments” and “hunger games”. There when he will chase down the story and read others that relevant or of same genre. He went through more than 80 books in the last two years. I’ve to confess he has read more books than my entire life…
I do keep devices to the minimal though. And I lead by example as I do not fiddle with phone unnecessarily. I don’t play phone games in front of him too. As we all know these things are very addictive and the moment their hook, it will be very difficult to take it away. I intend to restrict this till his older and can better self discipline and control. -
I’ve been sending my kids Reading Plus, and sometime I buy worksheets from various sources to check reading comprehension. I don’t believe reading any books is helpful. Keep on reading doesn’t necessarily mean they do understand.
