My ds's bag is ok without the macbook, at certain days there are only 2 or 3 text books, the rest are files. But with the macbook is super heavy, so on those days he has to carry few text books, i will put them in his laptop bag for him to carry, while his macbook is in his backpack.
Thanks for the info. Guess my ds is bringing too much unnecessary stuff. Do you mind tell me what class is your ds in? -

Just wondering if your DS school bag is super heavy? My DS bag is super heavy even without the lap top. Told him to bring only stuff that are needed but he insisted all are needed. Not sure if the rest of the boys are having the same problem? :x
My DS's Sch bag easily weighs 5 kg at least! No matter how he tried to clear, he said everything else is needed. Lately he seems abit hunched forward. I wonder is it due to having to balance himself. This yr Sch removes the lockers so everything is on his back. Heartache when I see him carry the bag! -
A misquote there. Tat was written by Silver88 ;-). So are we supposed to present Sch the certs or wait till they ask for them?silver88:

My boy learnt to swim on his own since young, so swimming is not a prob. Now I just have to find a coach, and get him certified. -
I think in the letter it is stated to submit a copy of the cert to the school by certain date, I think is Aug. Anyway, like silver88, I will make a copy of the cert and ask my ds to pass to the teacher.skyjuice:

Totally agree! It's best they learn now from gentler coaches then be thrown into the water in the army! Anyway, MS quite generous alr... only requires the boys to attain 1 level per yr.
Yes, that is my understanding. My boy has gotten silver, so no problem for him. By the way, I think it's good to learn how to swim as this skill will follow them life long.silver88:

So now, we have to find our own coaches and get the boys certified? This is regardless of whether or not the boys will be participating in the kayaking or triathalon right?
Do you mean they have to attain silver in sec 2? My DS only got bronze and I never let him continue to attain silver as he seem to swim quite well already. Moreover, I thought why waste the money. -

How I wish there’s more communication between the school and parents! Last year there was a workshop in the beginning of the year on Studywiz or sth. Any workshops for S1 parents so far?

I am so with you on this . I dont see why the school provide lockers just for the kids to put nothing much in it!! Plus we had to pay for the lock. And yes, my boy's bag is just as heavy. Very bad for their growing backs. I thought sometime back there was an article in the papers about MOE frowning on bags that go over a certain weight?silver88:
