All About Home Addresses

I think things are really made difficult for parents ..
nevermind then i wont put him on bus..anyways, just now i went to ACS primary and Junior website..it seems that the kid going P1..all under Phase 2C ,within 1 km got in...only more than 1 km, some were not successful.
I find it so unfair..good schools in only some areas...and priority goes to the people staying around that school,,so if you are not anywhere near there..means your child cannot go to a good school.,.. need to opt for neaighbourhood schools. I feel that MOE should start making good schools in every neighbourhood....
reminds me of some neighbourhood schools where the kids like hooligans. -

When there is a 'good', there should also be a 'bad' to differentiate. I reckon MOE doesn't want to label their schools as good or bad as afterall, aren't schools for learning? We should more aptly refer them to 'popular' and 'neighbourhood' schools.

Poonie:
If you are letting your child take school bus to school please take note that your pick up point must tally with the registration address. Most people do not know this but SLA requires all bus companies ferrying school children to submit a list of names and pick-up addresses to SLA yearly. This list must be endorsed by the school prior to submission. So you should know what this means!
I dun really understand.......My kid's pick up point is at my mum house...I have registered my kid using own address. Both addresses are 1-2km away from school...
Does that makes any different??? -
2galsmum:
Hi 2galsmum, I think Poonie is trying to infer that if parents are not going to be truthful about their home addresses, they had better not use the school bus services. In your case, you have nothing to worry.Poonie:

Hi ChiefKiasu,
What if my child goes to student care and the school bus needs to pick up from the student care instead of from my residential address - like that how? :? -
snowflake:
That should be fine. The school is normally aware of and coordinates with the nearby student care services in ensuring that its students are safely transported between them. At least that is the case of Konghwa and the nearby student cares.Hi ChiefKiasu,

Honestly speaking, as long as the child is really staying in the address you registered with, there is nothing to worry about. -
thanks for the quick reply, ChiefKiasu, really appreciate that

ChiefKiasu:
Hi Chief,
NRO has tightened its rules regardind address changing since June 2008. You will need to produce phone/utilities bills that reflect your current address. That is to confirm that you are staying with your mum.
Your registration priority is considered to be 1-2km even if your mum is staying right next to the school.
Only 1 NRIC is required.
I'm confused on the above. If i've changed my current address to my mom's address (which is nearer to the sch of choice), how come it's still considered 1-2KM priority? -
checkered:
because you don't live there, your mom does. you will also need to get a statutary declaration that the child will be living there.
