Just to share my experience. noticed DS has flat foot when he is about 6 years old, seek doctor advice but was told to leave it as it is, as they are too young for intervention and may outgrow it, so called. I regretted following the advice and should have seek second opinion. 4-5 years down the road, DS started to complain of pain when he has P.E or play catching with friends. He was also getting clumsy and fell easily. I thought he was just careless. But no…he came back from school one day and told me his ankle and other part of foot hurts. That was when I realised I have neglected it fortoo long.

Doctor appointment followed and fast forward to today, his flat foot is quite serious to the extent that doctor exempted him for PE and NAPFA, got principal to allow him wear high cut shoes with ankle support as his foot muscles are not strong enough. He is also wearing insole and going through physio.
On hindsight, I could have insisted on doing something for him, at least to build foot muscle when he is still young before puberty.

Sure, her clinic is called Orchard Clinic. I know their are other doctors there, so ask for Jessica. The phone is 68844123. I just went back today for another pair so that I can wash one sometimes. The price of $144 is because I have star card from toys r us, otherwise is $180, but is still cheaper than others even without star card.... I wonder why?

Thanks for the recommendation. We brought our 3 year old to see Jessica and she is really good. At one look she explained that our kid is suffering from flexible flat foot. She suggest we let her wear insoles to strength her muscles. It only cost $144. She highly recommends stride rite shoes which we unknowingly bought during our last trip to the States.

            Hi,
my dd1 has had the same diagnosis like your ds before consulting Dr Jessica. DD1 remains active, plays tennis, jogging, swimming, occasionally golfing in the green (lots of walking)... She has somehow grown out of her flat foot, and been diagnosed with a whole different set of problem (tilted pelvic)...

My point is, encourage him to do regular exercise, daily...... and, sincerely, please bring him to Dr Jessica Tennet, she is the best podiatrist I have come across. She corrected many misdiagnosis.... do something while you still can.

            Best regards.

              Hi everyone!!

This is Jessica the podiatrist from Orchard Clinic, I am very grateful to all of you sharing your experiences here! By doing so, many many children in Singapore have had treatment when they may not have and suffered in the future 🙂

I am just writing in as I am going to be away from the 10th of September until around December, so if you are planning on coming in to visit please do so before I head overseas 🙂

Thank you all for your wonderful reviews and coming in with your smiling children! I look forward to seeing you all again soon, and those who are still to come in.

              Best regards,

              Jessica

Not sure if this thread is still active, but I just wanted to share my recent experience with a new company, Feet Care (feetcare.sg). I always got back pain when exercising cause of my flat foot, and found them via google.

They claim to specialize in helping people with Flat Foot find the right solutions (insoles, sandals, shoes etc) The guy helping me is called Chang Liang. They bring in quite a few different brands of products and assisted me to find which one fits me the best. The best thing is they even allow me to swap and change if the product proves to be not effective and still hurts.

In the end, I bought a pair of Superfeet black insoles that costs $55 and when I went for my run, wala! the back pain is gone! He even calls me 1 week after to check if everything is working alright and if I need to change the product. I remember him mentioning they have products for children and women too.

I’m already thinking buying a 2nd pair haha Do check him out if any of you having problems with flat foot. Highly recommend!

Heard that walking on sand can improve flat feet condition for children. Bring the kids to the beach to build sandcastles more often.

I called up Dr. Jessica but was told that she is out of Singapore and return next year.

There is a another Dr. standing in for Jessica. Anyone tried this stand-in doctor before?

                      Hi

I just called Jessica’s clinic and was told that she may or may not return to Singapore next year.

Does anyone know other experienced podiatrists who see children?

                      Thanks

                      Regards
