    • RE: Q&A - PSLE Math

      A, B, and C had some stamps in the ratio of 2:5:7. after they were given 8 stamps each, the ratio of the stamps they had became 10:19:25. Find the total number of stamps they had at first.

      I solved this question using bags & boxes method, but the solution given had just three steps:

      8 / 4 = 2
      6+15+21=42
      42x2=84

      Can anyone help to explain the solution pls?

      cmm:

      The teacher asked John if he had stolen Ali's wallet.

      Why it is not: The teacher asked John if he stole Ali's wallet. Because I thought present tense changed to past tense while past tense then changed to past perfect tense. :?

      This sentence is in past perfect tense. You can read it up here http://esl.fis.edu/grammar/rules/pastperf.htm.

      I have the solution as below:

      480 / 4 = 120
      480 - 120 = 360
      360 / 4 = 90
      360 + 90 = 450ml

      Can anyone pls help explain the solution? TQ very much!!
