If I am not wrong most of their kids are able to go good and expensive enrichment centers for tuition... 😐
but of course some of them are real gifted šŸ˜‰
don't wish to speculate altho I think it's very likely. šŸ˜„
but that being said, I've also spoken to 'neighourhood school' parents and found that they are also not compromising in this investment!! In fact, it seems like it means more to them to get into GEP schools than those who are already in the so-called 'branded' schools.

with abt 180 pr sch and 4000 invitations, that's 20ish per school (ave).

      sounds logical... thanks.

was told acsp has 60+, so probably more for those superduper SAP schools šŸ˜„

Hi, just wondering what is the average number of children per school sitting for the second test? My son studies in one of the \"not popular\" neighbourhood schools and there are 9 of them taking the second round of tests.

with abt 180 pr sch and 4000 invitations, that's 20ish per school (ave).

Do GEP students study Mandarin at a different level?

I understand that they do cos I was told by a parent that the teacher showed the kid the differences between GEP Chinese, Higher Chinese and Normal Chinese.

I always thought they do the same MT as non-GEP coz I vaguely remember that allows them to mingle with the rest of the cohort.

BTW, the GEP-Elitist attitude is not an urban myth....just more in some and less in others.

Whoa! GEP sounds like a scary programme for a 9 year-old kid. My dd loves to read all kinds of books and magazines and is in the top 1% for NSW Science (results for Maths and Eng not known yet), but after reading all these, she'd better think twice about GEP. Not that she can get in....

if she's already in a GEP school, then the decision will prob be much easier! šŸ˜„

well, if she can get thru the 2nd rd without any coaching, then I think you shd seriously consider letting her have a go at the GEP prog. It'll be very enriching for her. Of course there'll be struggles, both for the student and the parents but I believe it's only for a couple of yrs.

      >The principal gave out the offer to those who got in in front of the entire P3 at that time and get them to clap for them and congradulate them.

I think the same thing happens in a lot of schools when it comes to release of PSLE result right? The teacher will announce the top 3 or 5 students in that school and the students will go up to the stage and receive the result. All the students sitting on the floor will clap for them and congradulate them. Agree?
Please don't be so sensitive when it comes to GEP. I thought we were teaching our kids to have better sportmanship - congradulate those who did better. I hope everyone in this forum can be more fair to GEP students, not all of them are trained or drilled to get into GEP. :celebrate:
maybe to some of us, it's like this. But from what I read here, ie, students crying when they are not selected for 2nd rd, I guess GEP is even MORE important than topping the school!! šŸ˜„

      I have 2 questions.

      1. The teacher told my friend and _______ to help her carry the books.
      (a) I (b) me

      2. Father took John and ______ to the museum today.
      (a) I (b) me
think it has always been 'I' for both cases. No?
