Need some advice from fellow gurus on which school to reg for 2C for my son:

      Within 1km
      - Punggol Green (76 slots left)
      - Punggol View (96 slots left)

      Within 2km
      - Mee Toh (37 slots left)
      - Horizon (99 slots left)

We are SC. We like Mee Toh but with only 37 slots, it seems very low chance for us to get in so left with Horizon, Punggol Green and Punggol View. How will fellow gurus choose?

Hi, i think you got the slots for Phase 2C wrongly. Mee Toh (360 total vacancies-(195+66) taken up at Phase1/2A1/2+Phase2B) should have 99 slots left for Phase 2C. Nevertheless, for the pass few years, there has always been balloting for Mee Toh <1km. Maybe can monitor the numbers during the last day?

No need to monitor lah. I can say with 99.9% certainty that balloting for both Mee Toh and Horizon will occur for applicants < 1km. Hence, no need to waste time thinking about it. That leaves you with Punggol Green and Punggol View. You will have to monitor and decide which one is more convenient / comfortable for you.

While both schools might go into balloting for < 1km, there is a higher possibility that Punggol View might not, as it is now competing with newer schools like Punggol Cove, Oasis and Waterway (besides Mee Toh and Horizon) in the same < 1km group. For those living on Matilda side, they have only Punggol Green (and Springdale in Sengkang) as the school < 1km. Hence, I expect competition to be keener for Punggol Green (lesser places left + many people have no other choices for <1km).
My house distance is same as stylocool, Mee Toh fall under 1-2 km for me while Punggol View/Green <1 km, if i want to avoid balloting, issit safe to go Waterway straightaway? Should be quite safe even though its 1-2 km from my place right? ๐Ÿ˜“
Waterway also has a MK but for some reason, Oasis is more popular.

Both schools' catchment area overlap with Horizon and Mee Toh, as well as Punggol View (another popular school with a very popular MK). I suspect, however, that a significant number of parents may decide the safer option of using MK priority in P2A2, rather than face the uncertainty of balloting in Horizon and Mee Toh (<1km) in a Dragon year.

Not sure if i am right, I think this year Waterway wont be affected by MK as they only have K1 batch?
I stay <1 km to Punggol View but registering at 2C, due to the MK priority this year, i am afraid my twins cant get into Punggol View, so thinking if i should directly register them to Waterway for 2C, for those familiar with Punggol schools, what you think is the chances of Waterway need to ballot for 2C as well? cos if it does, my house fall under 1-2 km

If Waterway doesnโ€™t have K2 MK pupils. Definitely a safe bet for P2C. Doubt there will be balloting as it is one of the โ€œback upโ€ 2Cs school for parents aiming for MT and Horizon.

My kid didnโ€™t have the 2A2 priority for PV but luckily for her classmates, balloting occur only for 1-2km last year (a number of her classmates, as well as my daughter, chose other schools). Doubt this year would be so lucky. Most likely back to ballot within 1km. If you can stomach the risk, may be worthwhile to give it a go. There should be a number of schools in Punggol with vacancies left for 2Cs.
Balloting for your daughter & classmates was for 2C or other earlier phases?
Dear All

      Like to seek your advice.

If I register for the pri sch that is about 700m away from my house, but if it get too popular and if worst case I lose the balloting, do I still stand a high chance for the sch that is just across my house?

For both sch, I will be under Phase 2C (no siblings, alumni, PV etc) and i'll fall under the first category of less than 1km right?

Balloting results will be out within the same day right?

I am looking at pri sch in Punggol. Any parent in punggol too?

I am staying in Punggol also, and i have dragon twins to register this july!!!! >.< ๐Ÿ˜“

It is so tough to make a decision..
Mee Toh (within1 km, about 700m away) vs Edgefield Pri (across the road less than 200m), vs Horizon (within 1 km, about 700m away)
      Last backup plan: Greendale :scratchhead:
I wouldn't dare to dream about Mee Toh as i stay exceed 1 km and within 2 km, both Punggol View & Punggol Green are nearer to my place, any feedback on these 2? i have been monitoring past few years, think both also need ballot at 2C :yikes:
