    • RE: Anyone has kid that are p5 in 2010?

      Hello James,

      Well said.

I must say that the A star booklets that u recommended is awesome.I was intending to let my girl to try it at the end of pri five but starts early cos of your recommendations. The questions are of slight twist compared to the generic past year pri five exam papers that she is having now.The only drawback about this booklets is that not all solutions are well presented. As it is , there are many ways to solve the same math question.Maybe another thing about this booklet is that the questions did not arrange into level of difficulty. Its all lump together. This is just one cent of my thought.

Am wondering do u have something similar that is equally good for science?Assessment book based?thank you.

      Cheers

      James Ang:
My comment may be echoed by many, that P5 is a big change from P4. There are more problem sums for P5 Maths accounting 60% and can be solved using calculators, and with some students experiencing a big plunge in marks from 99 in P4 to 60+ in P5. More core science topics and concepts are covered in P5; electricity, cells, reproduction, respiration, transport systems. P5 is like a crucial growing up year to prepare for PSLE in P6.

Erheeeeeemmm, I've been inspired by someone's posting here to go dig out this recipe for healthy Applenut Cookies that I used to bake some time ago. DH used to snack on them as he was studying for his Master's in the wee hours of the night some years back. I will bake this again soon. According to the recipe book, \"these chewy cookies will satisfy a sweet tooth without breaking the rules\" 😄

Thanks sista :celebrate: (pssssst, you know who you are 😉 😉)

      Applenut Cookies

      Makes 14, Preparation time 10 mins, Cooking time 10 - 15 mins

      Ingredients

      150g/5oz/1 and a 1/2 cups porridge oats
      5ml/1sp ground mixed spice
50g/2oz/4tbsp low fat spread or butter or margerine
      45ml/3tbsp demerara sugar
1 eating apple, cored and chopped
      45ml/3tbsp chopped hazelnuts
      1 egg white

      Method

      1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C/400degrees F/Gas 6. Combine the porridge oats and spice in a bowl and mix in the low fat spread using a fork.

      2. Add the sugar, apple, hazelnuts and egg white and stir well until the mixture bindsl together.

      3. Form the mixture into 14 small balls, arrange on a baking sheet and flatten the tops slightly.

      4. Bake for 12 -15 mins or until firm and golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Eat them while still fresh.

      Taaaa da!!!

      Simple to make no???

      Only four steps 😄

      Enjoy ..... :celebrate:

We did a free and easy trip to tokyo and osaka.I think its ok, not hard to move around.

However, for this dec hokkaido trip, we are taking a tour package.Reason is being winter and has to move from place to place and I think its quite hassle if I move on with the kids. Moreover, its winter, the day is short and so worried what If I got lost…so, to be on the safe side, we give up going free and easy during the winter.I guess, during summer, its ok to do self drive in hokkaido, esp gps is so accessible.

      Cheers

      Janet,

so glad everything like this is over for us right?

No need to listen to things like, mdm ,my coffee finished, my sugar finished and that is being consumed in less than a month.

I remembered those days when she wanting to go home, while waiting for new maid to come in, every day she just refused to do work, bang here bang there, and I have to clear all the rubbish at home...I just dislike that feelings...Hired a maid is not foc, and these maid really one of the kind.

Having said that, if really needs extra pair of hands, cannot cope, as in mentally and physically stress, maybe its ok only to certain extend. That is just one cent of my thought.

There were a few occasions when my maid refused to move her butt. She didn't say what she wanted. Just sat on the chair and didn't do anything. We had to prepare our own lunch and wash up.
If we take replacement maids, they are usually problematic ones. But if taking new ones, have to pay for safety course, passport thumb print and health check. These maids aren't cheap and yet they give us so many problems.

Yeah, that is the beauty for not having maid.

No need to worry about their mood swing too....sudden bomb like mdm i want to go home...or mdm this and that...

At times, was wondering, why should I always be under the mercy of them.Who is the mdm?

      Joy,
I don't go for holidays but don't get high blood now from having to face maids...maids pretend to taste Korea strawberries for sweetness, finish up ice cream on daughter's behalf, as well as biscuits which I buy for son's recess etc etc. Richer every month from not having to pay for levy and maid salary.

      Well said.
One more thing about maidless is that I can go holidays now without having to worry where to put my maid, what will she be doing if she is home alone.

I am richer every month too...spend the money on myself...heeeee.No need to worry where all my favourite snack has gone to....

Janet_lee88, same here. Did exactly the same when i sent bk the last maid abt 5 yrs ago.

Yes the satisfaction of hair n dust free is undescripable. Hee hee

NO maid = less stress. So ironic isn't it ? Maids are hired to help us get housework done, and yet they give problems. My kids insisted I dispose the cutlery maid used. Having dumped away all the stuff they used, I felt so good. Had my daughter's room renovated after sending last maid back.

      ksme:

Mid autumn festival celebration at Tao Nan will be held this fri (Sept 17) night from 7 to 9pm. P1 and P2 classes will end at 5pm.

There will be Games Booths, Chinese chess competition, Karaoke Competition finals, eRiddles, Food Arena and Chinese IT and Book Fair.

DS always look forward to this celebration every year. It is a great way to infuse some Chinese culture exposure in a fun environment. Great for parents to meet their children's classmates and their parents and of course the teachers.

Do set aside some time to go down for the celebration.

is it opened to parents? 😄
