Yea! I think there maybe only 2~3 kids get their COs from RI. I think it is unfair for the MS kids. They hopefully apply for RI but almost are rejected in the second round. RI should give more places to Non-GEP kids.

I think the basis for comparison is very wide. Most, if not all, of the selected interviewees scored >80% for the 3-years school results. Last year someone who got a CO claimed that his overall score is 85%. But many other factors should be considered, such as GAT result, level of involvement in cca and other academic participation & achievements such as in smops, etc. How the kids respond during the interview also play an important part. My ds said there are kids in his group who said they do not like to work in groups. IP are mainly project based and so their answers may have cost them the CO.

Hope your ds will hear good news from other schools soon, if there are any still pending. Maybe he will get WL from VS. They will send us next week.

Meanwhile, stay hopeful for your ds psle results.

Getting into RI is very very tough. My DS is ranked top 3.5% for the RI Primary World Maths Contest (in addition to other Olympiads) yet when the invitation came for him to apply, it was through sports (DS also has a few nationals down his belt)! I was very surprised, and called to speak to the teacher in charge at RI for his advice because I would have preferred him to get in via the academic route. The teacher was v frank in saying that he would advise me with confidence to go via academic route if DS is top 1% in RIPMWC and consistently over 90% in his results. Otherwise he would have a higher chance applying via sports. I was flabbergasted. Eventually I decided against going to RI because Bishan is far for us and we are surrounded by many great schools nearby.[/quote] U r right. It is difficult to enter RI via academic route. My DS is top 20 in SMOPS, top 50 in RIPWMC, two golds in other MOs. Therefore, he shouyld be the 1% in maths. And his science is the 1st of a neighbour school.

So far, it seems that no MS boy get into RI via acad DSA. I knew of a boy who was one of top student thru out Pr Sch and also in intermingling class. He only applied DSA acad to RI but was rejected. He got in via PSLE with 266 (w/o HCL). Another boy of similar calibre tried HC with SMPO plat and was successful. So, it seems that for mainstream, to get into RI, it has to be via sports and for HC, it is SMOP plat (how about gold?)and sports.

Yes，my DS (from MS) gets the COs from NUSH and HCI. But he is rejected by RI. Therefore, we can scold him if he become hubris：You can not 翘尾巴 cos you are rejected by RI. U cannot even enter the WL of RI!
