$4050 more was collected from the sale of Category A tickets
How many tickets were sold in Total ?
30 CatA tickets would bring in $2655 extra (30 x 88.50).
So remaining CatA tickets bring in $1395 extra (4050 - 2655).
One CatA ticket brings in $31 more than a CatB ticket (88.50 - 57.50).
Number of remaining CatA tickets should be 1395 / 31 = 45
Therefore, number of tickets = (45 x 2) + 30 = 120

My forte is English, not maths. However, I teach critical thinking so I have just thought about this logically. Perhaps a mathematician could show better method, but here's my thinking:
2 units of Girls plus 4 units of Boys = 360
1 unit of Girls plus 1 unit of Boys = 140
1 unit of Girls plus 3 units of Boys = 220
Therefore, 2 units of Boys = 80
1 unit of Boys = 40
Therefore, 160 boys in the hall at first.
