E3:Let me rephrase if I understood janet correctly. She meant to say the ex-principal of Nanyang Primary who is the current Principal of Nanyang Girls High managed to groom a PSLE top scorer two years ago before she left Nanyang Primary. Right? :D
So, this top PSLE scholar was formerly from Pei Hwa....So he/she must be an GEP student transfered from Pei Hwa to Nanyang during P4, right?php:
The principal is trying to groom a top PSLE scholar from Pei Hwa...it's a matter of time. Nanyang ex principal finally waited for one before she moved to Nanyang Girls.
You meant the present principal will be transfer to NGS. If yes, when?

U want to type 2015 right?
yes, typo error, shd be 2015
aiyo... like that my dd with be affected as she will take her psle in 2005.php:
My dd was not in school last Friday. However she mentioned a couple of weeks back that her FT told the class that they will be placed in a holding school in 2014 (my dd's P6 year ). Mrs Foo could have announced an updated plan on Friday during my dd's absence.
If it's like what comfy's dd had mentioned, the school would have completed reno and be ready for single-session by 2016 (government's plan) within that two years.
markfch, hopefully by 2016, the school would have gone single-session and your ds's PSLE should not be affected.

I think there is only 2 possibilties :-Hi Jennifer/markfch,
I think it's bad timing for any child sitting for PSLE during the temporary period. Hopefully the temporary school is nearby. Foresee this to happen, instead of building school just for P1/2 which is :siao: in my opinion.
Aiyoh, where is that holding school ?
CHIJ Toa Payoh will not be moving to temporary holding school in Geylang Bahru, now I hear Pei Hwa moving instead. What a joke.
a) Old Bukit Timah Primary School at the end of Jln Jurong Kechil. However, it is occupied by an international school currently unless they shift out before 2012. This place was a holding school for Pei Hwa before during the 90s.
b) Old MI campus at Toh Tuck, just beside existing Bukit Timah Primary School. This place is normally holding school for secondary level, just don't know whether is it suitable for primary school. -

Hi Dad8282BigDad:
One one more thing to ask: if there are 5 of us in one group signing up for the holiday programmes, can all 5 get the discount, or is it 4 get and the other one cannot?
Hi, sorry to tag along your post... this is my first post and Im also interested to send my P3 daughter for the holiday programmes.
Possible to include my gal and make it 6?
Thanks.
There is another thread - Application of Creative Writing Techniques - Holiday Programme. Probably you can find a slot there to form a group. -

Haha.... i don't understand at all......Hi,
How about circles or area questions, sometimes I find it hard myself to see the shape especially if it is put into a different shape, it is a circles or area question but you do not know it then later you can see it. Sorry if I am not making myself clear but does anyone know what I am talking about? :?:
anyway, circle/area questions are quite simple.... memorise the formula and you will never get it wrong...
basically, you need to remember the formula for area of circle, triangle, square and rectangle....that is all about it.... -
RE: All About SAP Schools
MMM:
For P1-P3, the gap is not so wide but definitely there is differences. For HCL, they are exposed to more difficult words besides those MOE's requirement. They are also expected to write more complex sentences. I believe the gap will be wider in upper primary. My dd has not reached there yet, so not very sure about that.verykiasu2010:
actually there is no difference between CL and HCL up to pri 3 level
Is that true??? I heard the difference is not significant from textbook perspective.
But I think there are still some difference. Eg. SAP school might pegged the question difficulty to different levels. Eg. in my kids' school, bi soon is tested during exams. it's not the total number of bi hua but rather for a particular stroke, which no. should that be. This I feel is alot more challenging. My kid did a neighbourhood school CL paper and she is able to score 90+ but when it comes to SAP school CL paper, this is more obviously challenging for her.
Also within SAP school, the level of CL they are exposed to is different with the class banding. Eg. for those weak in CL, there are less words to learn during tingxie. Meanwhile for those in stronger classes, the words are more, difficult as well as they need to memorise, etc.... so the CL exposure is different. -

SAP is about taking both English & Chinese as first language. It happens that all SAP schools are among the \"hot\" schools in their respective area. However, if one feels that his/her kid might have difficulty in HCL, it will be wise decision to send his/her kid to a non-SAP schools. There are many good non-SAP schools around, like CHIJ TP, MGS, RGPS, SCGS, SJI, ACS, just to name a few. Ultimately, parents know their kids better and they should make a wise decision where to send their kids to so that the kid will enjoying going to school. I have seen a few parents, finding ways and means to get their kids into SAP schools, and at the end of the day, their kids struggled in their studies, not only they couldn't cope with HCL, but basically all the other subjects. Really pitiful.....
Hhmm, i am concerned that those \"drop-out\" from HCL will be 2nd class citizen. I called Poi Ching before to check whether HCL is compulsory from P1. The person answered in very incredulous tone \"Must take HCL, if not , no point coming to Poi Ching'phankao:
Why can't a child survive?
I have 2 elder children in 2 different SAP schools who did not take HCL. No problem there. My daughter just finished her O-level CL. She's still not taking HCL. Ds1 is taking HCL now in sec 1. Not his favourite subject though. He's still weak in it. -
RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary
Hi Parents
Any P1/P2 parents interested in sending your kids for the above Holiday Programme conducted by The Alternative Storey at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre? They need at least 3 kids to open a new class. I want to send dd there and request them to open a new class, ideal date is 7 Sep to 9 Sep. It is a 2-day programme.
Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks.
