Coming from a Montessorian perspective ...For pre-schoolers, i lke Montessori Mathematics cosi find that Montessori Math is more activity based to allow children lotsa opportunities to grasp Math concepts concretely with the use of a wide array of apparatus/materials which have been specially designed to introduce each concept visually. Tactile impressions help children to relate better to mathconcepts rather than just face worksheets & work the numbers week after week. While there are (still) paper assignments to carry out, it is done systematically and approached age appropriately.Another one i like is Growing With Mathematics. Again, another tactile + visual learning experience for pre-schoolers to grasp concepts in fun experimental ways.Lotsa repetition on concepts/specific areas but variedtastefully. Materials are in abundance & very colourfultoo.

Emelyn:But the HCI website says \"EligibilityAll participants must be born between 2 Jan 1998 and 1 Jan 1999, both dates inclusive, or Primary 6 students born after 1 Jan 1999.\"So, if your child is P4 or P5, then will be born after 1 Jan 1999, so will not be eligible. Right ?Only those born in that time period can join this year SMOPS. The younger ones have to wait for their time.

Hi kitty_cat, my boy loves numbers since young too! He can look at numbers all day if we allowed him to! Not sure if he is as good as your boy can recite 1-300 back and fro. But I have never thought of sending him for abacus at such a young age, wonder if any centre will admit such young age cos probably need parent to sit in and need to do homework… Does your boy know the true quantity when he counts from 1-300? Maybe you can start with that to teach him addition and subtraction yourself. I also expose my boy to skip counting, patterning, reading number in words through games as well. He can now recognise up numerals up to 4 digits. Oh, we also teach him how to say numbers in Japanese and dialects for fun lah, which he can pick up real fast since he has great interests in numbers.
