      bebebub:
Learning (by the child) and coaching (by parents/caregivers) is more meaningful and less stressful when PSLE is not the end goal.

Establishing good reading habits, writing legibly, laying numeracy n literacy foundation, are skills n abilities the child will/should develop as one progresses thru the learning journey. No matter how well prepared the child is, one will feel the PSLE heat in P5/6. To worry abt losing marks in S&T n cloze passages 5 long years b4 PSLE is ......... :yikes:

      JMHO
Hi bebebub, you have misunderstood my post. I'm not worried my child losing marks for S&T n close passage. Having good language skills for English and Chinese need to be developed over a few years through consistent reading.

Every parent should have a plan in mind. The ultimate goal of a primary school child is to take the PSLE. This is undeniable. The learning journey is a long and arduous one ahead and it will not only stop at PSLE.

              for Maths :-

heard that we’re 2nd batch, affected by Psle changes to the Maths format.

If true, may we know what’re the new changes to Maths Psle, impacting us ?
              Thanks

It is the final PSLE results that determine the child's fate. Having a good 5 years to plan ahead and warm the engine slowly is definitely a better option than to step on the accelerator towards P5 level.

for lower primary, it would be getting adjusted to the curriculum. when the kids reach primary 3, it’s time to learn how to answer PSLE method, especially science…so there is a good 3 years to get the hang of it because at the end of the day, the BIG PICTURE is the PSLE.

                        Never rest on laurels.

A long distance relative's child woke up at 5am every morning with her parents to practise on past years exam papers before she went to school. Study for 8 hours or more a day on weekends in primary 6. Study about 4 hours on weekdays. No doubt I heard this child is doing very well in Raffles upper sec now. This child felt that she wanted to work hard to enter Raffles. So you see, there is this kind of rare case that exist. I'm not saying that I approve of what the child's parents and the child did but if this child could have begun her basic foundation revision early, would the child have to struggle in Primary 6?

We have heard stories of parents applying leave to study with the children in P5 or P6. I think that is too late.
