I thought only SAP IP then need to take HCL. Non SAP IP, not necessary. If you are not taking HCL in PSLE, you can still get into SAP IP and IP, just that you do not have the extra points to add. :?
It's not true that in order to be accepted by IP sch, the pupil must take HCL, even in SAP IP, also not a must.joconde:
Yes in order to be accepted by a IP school , student must do HCL in PSLE.
Oh gosh, is that true ?! I din know tat !!
The only thing I was told by sch was that with HCL, you get extra points when applying for SAP sch. But the sch never tell us that only students with HCL can get admitted into IP !
Are you very sure abt this ? Is there any official statement at MOE or sch website abt this ? Do u know if it's the same for NUSH & SST ?
the sch accepts pupils so long the COP meets the requirements of the IP school.
just that if u take HCL in PSLE, u are entitled to the bonus points for SAP sec schools. -
joconde:
as far as i know, sec 1 posting is by merit through PSLE scores. as long as the child meets the cut-off point for which ever IP SAP school, the child will posted there irregardless of whether child is taking HCL at PSLE or not.dolphinsiah:

anyway PSLE HCL contributes bonus points to overall aggregate. pass = +1, merit = +2, distinction = +3
hope these help

You all are talking as if getting into a local U is so difficult. The fact is that 30 years ago, only top 5% of every cohort get into the U but today 20% of our population have a university degree.WeiHan:
RV usually take in 30-40 China scholars in year 4 and they are real good academically.
If they are scholars, sure can get in local Uni 100%. And at year 4 stage, most of them should be quite stable in their mindset and knows what they want. With this kind of attitute, 101% can get in local Uni lor. -

Yes, mine is going ...let's hope it won't rain...
Actually my child is in Y4, but she is just going there to have fun with the Y1 & Y2.
The orientation is organised by the Y2 Dance-this is RV the usual practise.
But there will be teachers there too... -
My child used to attend Just Education for Chemistry and Maths during Year 1 & 2...but the grades were only Bs...
So I send her to another tutor.
This tutor was a NTU Master scholar-Charge very high...
It is also a group tuition...but he will go around to teach the students personally..lectures will be done during holidays.
This tutor ensure me that my child can get A grade ...so I tried for 1 term...
Wow really my child grades improve...
But cost me a lot of money....
I could not get tutors that can teach English in IP standard.
So I just put my child to attend JC1 GP tuition...very Kiasu right
HCL tuition is to make sure my child gets a good grade in year end National Exam...
My 2 child one in year 1 and the other in year 5 both attending Just education. But seems like for the year 1 I have to pull him out as the topics taught is different fm RV. For the year 5, she is attending the maths lesson n she found it quite useful. -
