But I do agree that laying the foundation early makes life easier towards the end. 可δ»₯ε₯½εƒε₯½η‘ till the end.

On the other hand, different children really need different amount of work as strengths, weaknesses and personalities are different. Besides written work, don't forget oracy, especially for the shy child.

        :offtopic:

Good to hear from you! I'm so happy to see/hear/read you! :hugs:

So sweet of you, icy_mama! :hugs: Now that my kids are using the internet more, I am consciously trying to use it less...in front of them. πŸ˜‚ I am supposed to be here to learn about PSLE stuff but your nick reminds me that the food thread is even better and will make me more popular with my kids! πŸ˜‚[/quote]Oops, seeing my nick is like seeing a walking piece of steak? πŸ˜†

Then again, when my dd took her PSLE the year before, nutrition played a huge part to make that brain juice flow better. πŸ˜‰

Could you share with us your Exam Food Recipe?

What kinds of food will make brain think/focus better? Fish, gingko nuts, what else?

What kinds of food must be avoided, so that the child is not groggy or hyper?

This is a serious question! :imanangel:

          Tks!

              Tks!

Firstly, I do not have THE \"Exam Food Recipe\" though I wish I could have. My exam food recipe must have one main ingredient. That is \"happiness\". Ok, I know this is a serious question. :imanangel:

Why \"happiness\"? For my dc, food is important to them. They live to eat. As much as I hate to say it, they turn to food for solace, like they did, as a baby, when they turned to the breasts. It's natural for them. So in this crucial exam time, what I could help was to give them their favorite food. And that's it. In fact, ginkgo nuts, fish oils, good for brain, but I avoided cos dd doesn't like. But fish, she's ok, so that gets served. Chicken essence, herbal tea, good to nourish the body and brain... No, no, cos my dd would have puked them all out.. Potato chips, chocolates, etc. to avoid... But that would have made her happy to plough on, so, i gave. But in moderation, and that was key. Everything in moderation and this way, food gets translated into happiness and then, into fuel for the brain. πŸ˜„

Another important ingredient that helped my dd through was manuka honey of umf 20+. She almost lost her voice just before PSLE oral and that saved her voice. So, I think, it's good to have a bottle around.

Spending time outdoors can improve concentration.

sweat it in the evening by taking a walk and looking at the greenery.
eating fish will definitely help...it's brain food.
deep fried food & chocolate preferably avoided near PSLE as weather around that period is hot.

My dd has an informal Show and Tell practice in class last week during Chinese lesson about ”I grow up\" ζˆ‘ι•Ώε€§δΊ†γ€‚

Last year P1 term 1 there was practically no homework. This year P2 homework has been coming in since week 1. Can feel the heat is on too.
