I have a bad experience with Mindstretcher.

I registered my boy for a class commencing 1 Dec 2014. Just a day or two before class commencement, I received a call and was informed the class would start only in Jan 2015. I was kind of disappointed but accepted it as I was reassured that the class would commence in Jan 2015.

Guess what!! Again 2 days back, I received another call that the class would be cancelled as my boy was the only student registered for the class. For both occasions, the admin of Mindstretcher just simply apologize. No other alternative!!!

At the point of registration, there was no term or condition as to a minimum headcount for class commencement.

Mindstretcher is simply a profit-making company. They set a rigid timetable for class registration. Even after collection of fees & deposit at the registration, they can just simply say "sorry", refund & case closed. But for parents, we have to source for alternative enrichment schools/centres to enrol our child at the last minute on 30 Dec for class commencing 1 Jan 2015.

Is there any remedy to parents like me? What can we as parents do to such enrichment centre in Singapore?

During the registration, they would have had you sign on a contract.. On it, it is stated that MS reserves the right cancel a class/ not to open a class due to insufficient student... etc. Something like that.

Actually, the smallest class i personally know MS had was 2 students.

Some parents who had originally signed up for your preferred timeslot might have transferred to other times slots, resulting in the class being cancelled.

I had similar experiences with other centres ( 2 different centres), likewise, they could not open the class.

          Hello mummies,

I was planning to check out Mind Stretcher English programmes for P2. My boy had his English enrichment with British Council from K2 - P1.
Wanted a change because I noticed my boy’s grammar seems a little weak. His reading, presentation skills and vocabulary is strong. But I find that his grammar is a little weak. I am not saying that British Council is not good. In fact, they had trained him to speak confidently because they have show and tell every week. So he scored well for his show and tell during P1. They focus a lot on vocabulary building too but I just felt they are less academic and wanted my son to have some form of training into the drilling of proper sentence construction, grammar because he is P2 this year. Sigh, but after reading the reviews about MS here, I am at a loss now. Not sure where else should I look out for. Anyone can recommend a few so I can check them out? Was thinking of Morris Allen. Any comments?

It depends from branch to branch and teachers to teachers. Why not you try for 2 months and see how it goes?

Mindstretcher is a tuition isnt it? Im surprised that parents are sending their kids for tuition when they are only p1 or p2. Isnt it too stressful? My parents never sent me to tuition cause they felt that if you really want to study, you can study independently and score even better than those that goes for tuition. Besides, tuition fees are so expensive nowadays, and you have teachers in school who can help me. (I always asked my teachers qns im not sure) assessment books and sch teachers are all you need to get 250+ in psle

One thing to note is that mindstretcher science study notes is of very poor print quality . Pictures are not clea and words are blurred due to poor printing . Eg p3 study notes and the diagram of the insect to illustrate the 3 body parts was blur such that you can’t even see the two pair of wings . They can certainly improve on the quality of printing and TLL science notes are of good print quality - clear and I don’t think they simply just photocopy unlike MS
