:!: OMG Seem that Y5 & Y6 is going to be a tough ride...
Furthermore I think this year RV Y6 is the first batch doing the A Levels through IP program...the whole school is putting a lot of effort to ensure this first batch of Y6 attains good grades πŸ™

Yes, its tough! I heard from dd about the principal's \"challenging\" speech for the year 6 students and the \"back challenge\" speech from one of the year 6 representatives, up on the stage. πŸ˜„

thght he is from year 5 not year 6.[/quote]Wait, I am confused. This year 2010 is the first batch of RV taking \"A\" level right? If yes, that means he is year 6 this year. :?

So .... you have heard about it too lor ... πŸ˜„

hi stressy, you mean the school would ask them to subscribe or you subscibe on your own?

        Is this the one?
        http://www.school-of-thought.com/magazine.html

        They have two magazines,
PresentPerfect is recommended for 13 to 16 year olds, while BroaderPerspectives is recommended for 17 to 21 year olds.

probably on her own bcos magazine sent to my residence i/o school
        got to check with her.

Can you check with her is this the magazine? It seems a local production and publish. If this is the one, I would like to subscribe for dd to read. Thanks for your recommendation. :celebrate:

If you are aiming for straight As like 8 or 9 As, then GP is probably the greatest stumbling block for most students. In order to do well in GP, the linguistic ability need to be built up as early as possible (year 1, 2). There should then be a keen interest in current affairs, social issues etc…the students must be keen to discuss them among themselves and then the read broadly part which is easy nowaday because you can google everything from the internet easily.

oh yeah, that's right. It is so competitive nowadays... they'll need CCA, CIP and lots of other additional profile in addition to their straight As before they can get into those popular courses they want in uni. Not easy at all.

if i not wrong, A level grades also have certain points system similar to O level L1R5.....one can still get into their choice uni course with excellent results. cca achievements, ocip, leadership are definitely required for scholarship n also useful when applying for job

True, but when everyone applying for a certain popular course with perfect results, uni will base on additional portfolio and interview to select the better ones.
Once my niece wrote in to appeal when she couldn't get into Accoutancy, the reply was \" striaght As is a norm and not exception\". It clearly implied that with excellent academic results is not good enough for certain courses.
