Yah .... quite a lot of the ksp parents here work in ministries .... notably MHA - Ministry of Home Affairs. A lot work in MFA also - Ministry of Foreign (not-Home) Affairs. :rotflmao::imanisland:
So IB not anything new here ? Or you already so used to them? Some looked obvious. -

Of course Not every day lah, but on Those days that rain heavily in the morning on their way to school or after school, surely the students would not want to walk in the rain, reach school all drenched, uniform wet, socks wet, shoes wet, hair wet
I lived in SG long enough to confirm there is no rainy thunderstorm on every school day @ start / end of daypirated:
U can't be walking in the rain, on rainy thunderstorm days.
Even if u want to quote example, quote Realistic examples !
Not quote unrealistic example like everyday rain !
When you are an administrator planning provide shuttle service for a school what designated time to pick up the students, of course they will take into consideration both sunny days, thunderstorm raining days.
On the coming discussion day, affected parents can bring up to The officer in charge, to provide shuttle service at regular interval early morning or after school at designated times during peak hour, or any burning concern that u have.
Just my opinion that shuttle bus would make sense in the morning but return would not make sense- I doubt the lessons end same time for all.
For those interested in solution, there is a loop bus 92. It is available throughout the day till 8:30 pm. Frequency varies a lot, peak hour frequencies are ok but off peak times it could be quite a long wait. it would good for school to let LTA know the usual end times so that better frequency can be maintained for those times too. -

If govt say something, no need to question, jus eat the dead cat \"吃死猫“? Don't ask, or fight for your own rights?
Sure, don't think anyone likes to 吃死猫! 不想吃死猫就直接杠上吧。 OK lemme play the devil's advocate hor...
A few ways to skin this cat, from now till 25 May, if you really want to fight for your rights:
1. Escalate to Opposition MP, NCMP or PAP MP to speak up for you- Alas, no one fielded this topic on Mon (11 May) which is this month's sitting; at least not on the Parliamentary Order Paper I skimmed through.
So this boat is considered missed, as next sitting is in Jun. MOE has intercepted with the upcoming 25 May engagement session. Never mind, try next month but questions will be stale by then.
2. How about getting some proactive parents to conduct a Quick Survey using SurveyMonkey to get a realistic sense of actual no. of students adversely affected by the distance?
i. I live in N/S/E/W/NE/SE...
ii. I need to commute by Mode of Transport...(incl parent's car)
iii. I need to change ___ times of ___ to get to Mt Sinai (incl feeder bus to interchange)
iv. I take < 15 min to get to Mt Sinai... 15-20 min....20-30 min...
v. My transport expenses will increase by ___ cents/__%.
If the findings are dismal at the end of the day, i.e. to your disadvantage, no need to present to MOE on 25 May. If findings show over 60% students are adversely affected, you have a case.
Get volunteers to compile report with charts. :rotflmao:
3i. Get a permit from NParks to hold a Vigil or Silent protest at Hong Lim Park. The regulations and application form can be found https://www.nparks.gov.sg/speakers-corner-registration-form. Approvals are quite speedy I understand.
ii. Get some vigilant parents to prepare placards/banners, set up petition booths, rent mobile PA system, assign speakers to take turns to voice out your issues.
iii. Get volunteer photographers, videographers to film all speech deliveries and post onto YouTube.
iv. Consider inviting mainstream + alternative media once your event and RSVPs have been confirmed. Field a few students or parents for media interviews, if you dare. :nailbite:
v. If you don't mind involving your kids, invite them to the park and get them to wear school uniform (!!!) :rotflmao: This is the only legal way to show your displeasure and to hold an assembly, as student strikes are prohibited in Singapore.
vi. Do this before 25 May, if possible.
5. I notice there're fence-sitters amongst you, and actual affected parents don't voice out your issues, but only choose to quietly \"like\" posts behind the scenes. No wonder your voices have been drowned out.
This gives the impression that affected parents no longer have fresh points. What we're hearing is the same-old same-old : accountability, transparency, poor planning, lack of cross-agency communication, betrayal of promise, proximity, etc.
If MOE graciously and humbly apologises for its oversight and gives you the transparency you want on 25 May, 你就没戏唱了。
6. Try securing all 3 Exco/Alumni's/PSG's buy-in, if possible. But I already know 1 exco member who's more than happy to go to Mt Sinai, so that makes me wonder if you guys are a minority. Exco/Alumni can drop by Hong Lim Park to lend support, if you can successfully convince them you have a strong case.
7i. Nominate someone to consolidate new points and questions to pose on 25 May. Don't repeat your points/questions and sound like a broken record. You might be brushed aside if the question is repeated cos it's 7pm and everyone is groggy. :snooze:
ii. Strategise by coordinating amongst yourselves who to ask which (intelligent) question and propose solutions. Time is of the essence after you take your refreshments! Don't let long-winded whiners or poor communicators waste other parents' time. Moderator may cut you off, so be succinct.
Someone help vet and scrub the questions beforehand?
iii. Get volunteers to video-tape the Q&A session for record purpose. First 5 questions recorded by A&B. Next 5 questions recorded by C&D.
iv. Film the back not front of parents to protect their identities.
v. Thereafter, seek help from SAHMs to transcribe all Q&As and circulate for everyone's record. (But I'm sure MOE will do likewise also la, since you all complain they are not transparent).
8. Create a Facebook interest group, but not very effective as many parents and students want to remain anonymous. No. of Likes and Followers will be impacted if everyone wants to hide behind the screen. No one wants to implicate their kids. -

Do you mean to say only affected parents have a right to post their comments in this thread? Let's be fair to sandunes. Doesn't mean if his/her view is different from yours, he/she is an IB.sandunes:
Oh dear, are kids made of paper nowadays?
So fast IB change people?
Are you an affected parent?
I won't say they are strawberries that they can't walk or take a bus. Definitely they can walk. But it's the accountability and the competency of the govt that is questionable. The affected parents and students just want to know why and what happened before the thousands of them walk the extra mile! If not, you want them to take bus to Johor also can.
Accountability issue is definitely something for the relevant authorities to address, but to suggest feeder bus just because of rain or the walk from bus-stop/mrt station to campus - that's obviously going to make some parents in ksp think strawberries or paper. How many schools had already used the campus as a temp holding site? What about the past RJC students?
Both are separate issues - strawberries and accountability. And both can be discussed in this thread. Why not? At most, use this icon :offtopic: can? -

Later starting time have already been suggested / requested by the chs students. Free shuttle bus? Chs dont even allow the sec school students to take paid school bus services... The boys must not be so pampered!
My ds told me no need to attend the moe briefing, the school will do whats best for them..., and i tend to agree with him...
CHS has taught them well.
I am not referring to you but sometimes, it's the parents who are over-reacting and making their DC look bad.
My future sil must have such 'man' quality
