I wonder it has something to do with English & Chinese languages? My DD's classmate got 253 but did not offer Cat 3 Foreign languages. Her Eng A*, Chinese was A but Higher Chinese : Distinction though. Dunno how the allocation was based on what criteria? Probably both Eng & Cl must be A*?? :?diannec:
My DC's score is 254 and has been offered Cat 3 Third Languages.
Thank you Diannec, I know a child score is 253 also get Cat 3 third languages. and another child score is 251 but does not get it.
Does anybody know if there is any child score 252 get Cat 3 third languages? TIA... -

That is what we are experiencing now. Our child has outperformed our expectation and now we don't know whether we should stick with the school that we wished him to join or we should consider another school. Initially we want him to join either HCI or NUS High but NUS High is no longer in our shortlist. Now we're trying to get as much information as possible for RI (we already know about HCI) because we were never attended RI open house and has never been there before. So, we don't know their culture and what we can expect from the school.
Just to share with you. My boy is in RI and will be Sec 2 next year. He really enjoys the curriculum and learning there. The teachers have good lesson plans and are mostly helpful and approachable. It's not really that competitive. He and classmates made their own study notes while preparing for exam and they are all willing to share with each other. Majority of the boys are fun loving but also serious when it comes to learning. It has great learning environment. I think you should really consider letting your boy join this school.floppy:
Hmmm...chances are parents already have a good idea what they and kids want esp those high flyers. However maybe there is that small group, maybe the more chill folks, who have not really thot much about school choices til now ?
There are also some, whose child out performed their expectations and they are now looking at choices where they hadn’t been considering.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s fair to ask for options and comments. However, when you are able to narrow down to 2 or 3 choices of schools within +-2 COP, it’s usually just an issue of whether the child fits into a particular school culture, bearing in mind that some schools are more than 50 years old. It’s unlikely their culture can be changed at all. -

Hmmm…I also a bit suspicious…haha…My dd said she saw it was 253, but I also think she might have saw wrongly… So it was more on aggregate scores rather than the languages? -
Ganjiongspider:
Yeah it should based on the T-score not on individual language subject score

French, Japanese, German and Spanish. -
Nope. My son got A for Chinese but A* for English. He was offered 3 categories to choose from.
He opted for Jap first choice, French second. But system only accepts one choice per category.
So just chose Japanese
