For PSLE science, just need to practice the trial papers, there aren’t that many kinds of questions that can come out, they all use the same format

        JS rolling:

        Hello everyone~

I noted that many students can do well for MCQ but struggled at open ended questions. My DD can usually scored about 22 out of 40 and I am worried for her PSLE next year!

I have taught her to use keywords and her school also seems to teach them certain format, but it seems to me that it is still not enough.

As science is her favourite subject, anyone has any advice on how she could improve on her section B? I am worried as it will be her PSLE next year. :yikes:
        :thankyou:

Hi JS rolling! Did you ever push thru enrolling your daughter at CCE? How was her experience? I'm looking for science programs this march and I was wondering if they have slots open. Thanks!

Hi jalyndasia! Yes, I did enroll my daughter at CCE last December. The course is activity-based and not worksheet-based. That’s why my daughter had a great time. She doesn’t like doing too much homework! Plus, her other classmates are also enrolled there.

I do recommend it but of course, it’s still up to you. It doesn’t mean though, that since it worked for my daughter, it’ll work for your child the same way. The last decision is always up to you. I'm not sure if they have a science course this month. Maybe you can call or check out their website. Hope this helps!

While I think studying answer keys is a viable option, I’m not sure if it could help improve my son in his OEQs. It’s possible that the keys don’t have the proper answers. I’m still on the lookout for OEQ classes. Does anyone know if CCE Education, Joyous Learning or Ace Scorers have open science classes for March?

Called CCE yesterday. They don't have science classes this month but will open one in June.

As an English teacher, I often hear the science teachers complaining about how they cannot mark the students down for grammar, etc, so that’s not really the issue. Mostly the answering technique that needs to be mastered

I enrolled my son at CCE in Bishan last December. I think it’s a great investment especially if you want your child to improve in school. While studying "suggested answer keys" works for some kids, I feel like it’s rote learning. CCE emphasizes how understanding concepts is more important than just learning by memorization. I myself am not a fan of rote learning. Instead of learning to apply the concepts beyond the classroom, students only learn what they need to score well in exams.

Hello! Section B is really tough. I am considering maths heuristic section B class or CCE for the holiday break. I am seriously considering either one but if someone could give me feedback on how the classes helped their kids, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

I just got to know about CCE. It looks interesting, but it’s only 3 days. Does the CCE teach textbook concepts only? How are the activities like? experiments? Any parent whose child has been through can share more? When is the best time to attend it? my thinking is end of the year is better as it will revise the whole year’s work? Most importantly, can it help push grades to A*? I saw most of the improvements were within an A grade.
