APS has 90 kids registered under phase 1 although 170 vacancies have been allocated.

there are just 2 days of registration for phase 1 right? that means the remaining 80 places would be for phase 2A2?

      Alexandra primary is hot

Very hot for a brand new school in Bukit merah.
      I think it’s about 5 years old.
The 2600 vacancies are for neighbourhood schools. The intention is to entice couples to register their kids in other schools so as to lessen the hotly contested branded schools. But many are still going for popular ones.

        Hi,

Every year Kisau will provide an analysis after every phase ends. Phase 1 ended, will we be expecting any anaylsis abt it? Even after having a few strategies in mind, we r still extremely anxious. 😉

There’s a school fun fair at CHIJ Katong Primary today from 9am - 4pm. Its a perfect opportunity to take a look at the school.

Analysis by Straits Times published today:

“17 schools see more than half of places filled after first phase of P1 registration for siblings”

Oh no!! Ai Tong phase 1 take up rate increase again. We left with 125 slots only.
Got a strong feeling confirm ballot.

That means what the alumni lady told me is true. She said alumni left ard 120. But she told me there's ard 100 alumni as long as it doesn't increase on the day we registered we shd be safe. I already prepared for the worse for balloting. Will think of alternative if can't get in.

Ai Tong not affliated to any Secondary school, isn't a full school : unlike Catholic High and St Nick.
Being full school, fathers who had studied previously in Catholic High Secondary (but not from primary section) or mothers who had studied before in St Nick Secondary (but not from primary section) -
will gladly enrol their children, back into these two full schools. Hence, high chance for these 2 schools, to ballot at Phase 2A1.

Even though many alumni signed up at Ai Tong Phase 2A1, don't think will enter 2A1 balloting.

However, Nanyang primary : may enter Phase 2A balloting, because the girls in Nanyang are affliated to Nanyang Girls' High (IP), at T-score 250. Many parents with daughters sure want Nanyang, esp. when the T-score difference is big, because affliated NYPS girls can enter NYGH at 250, whereas in sharp contrast, outside students must score 265 before able to enter. Such a huge difference of 15 points T-score difference, which parent with daughter don't want Nanyang ?

Hence, for Nanyang, there is still an affliated Secondary school existing. But, not for Ai Tong, although both are SAP schools.
The affliationt is important : because under the new AL PSLE marking scheme (starting from 2021), which this batch of 2019 P1 intake comes under : each of the 4 subjects (english / mother tongue / maths / science), are equally important.

Hi all, I'm new here. I am alumni of NYPS but did not join the alumni association so now I'm at a big risk at phase 2A2. Plus, I live in Punggol. Any advices here? I like Horizon and within 1km but it looks risky too. Do I go down personally to school to register on that day to increase chances? Thanks in advance! -pulling hair out-

nothing that you can do now to increase your chances at NYPS. So just go ahead and register at Phase 2A2 and hope for the best. :xedfingers: No loss anyway.

Horizon Primary is very very popular. Balloting is confirmed for <1km usually. If you don’t mind getting into any of the other schools in Punggol under Phase 2C suppl, then go ahead and give it a shot at Phase 2C. But if you have a preferred second choice then you may not want to waste your chance.

No, registering personally at the school does not increase your chances.

You need to prep that there is no Phase 2A2 for NYPS cos i heard from fren that there may be balloting in Phase 2A1 this year.

On MOE website, ACS (Junior) had just 39 registration at end of Day 1 Phase 1. But, at end of Day 2, there was a jump to 80!

I thought most Phase 1 applicants would have much time to prepare for registration so most would have done it on the first day.
The school will usually give out the Phase 1 forms earlier to the boys whose brothers will be registering for phase 1, and have the forms collected before Jun holidays.

On Phase 1 registration days, school admin will submit the forms online to MOE for registration. Guess ACSJ admin did the online submission over 2 days.

The article is not very accurate cos it's written on 29 June. There was a further decrease in availability after 30 June on many other schools .

Chief, why this year no sound from you or your KSP staff??

You have some competition this year. Straits Times has come up with an oversubscription risk calculator: https://graphics.straitstimes.com/STI/STIMEDIA/Interactives/2018/06/ds-p1-registration/index.html

                        Hi,
I found Mr Kiasu's link for oversubscribed 2018 here:
                        https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/2018-p1-registration-oversubscription-risk/

Does the Straits Times meteorology same as Mr Kiasu? Have u all compared? I hope that they took into account the Dragon yr # of babies, the added/reduced intake for each schools.

i tried 1 school. come out different in the views on how much will it be oversubscribed. maybe everytime i do an analysis i will compare. 😛
