2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

zac's mum:
when uncle was overseas, he applied for LOA to keep a place in the school for his son in case he would return anytime. that was quite some years ago though and it had to be applied every year. uncle had to fill in the period of time he would be away and in his case, it was the whole year...I guess the school would be able to take in another child in this instance.Ykan:
There are cases where kids are still overseas due to their parents posting. However they need to secure a seat when come P1 registration. They may only be back a few years later so those seats are also available
In those cases, the parents need to apply officially for Leave of Absence and pay a nominal school fee in order for the school to “keep” the place for the child.
So is the school permitted to give the place away to another child?

er ... in my child's school, LOA means \"not allowed to touch that seat\".

Even if the child come back to study in P3, during that period from P1 to P3 : no one else can touch that reserved student's seat. Neither will her school allow other students to transfer in to take her place, just because the student is absent in (P1 and P2). Reserved means reserved, until student come back. -

As during the period of absences, school fees is still being paid to keep the space. Period of absence is just an indication, it could due to unforseen circumstances where the kid need to come back to spore, his space is there, and not that the school need to take in a extra kid or kick out the kid who has taken this LOA kid space.zac's mum:

My kid got a space when a LOA kid gave up his LOA status. But when a LOA status is given up, I would think most school will not bother to go call the first person in queue on the waiting list. It is really timing and who you talk to in school.. in our case, we are not even in on waiting list at all. We just talked to P and tell her our \"sad\" story and P checked and just nice found a LOA given up and we got it .. all these happened on the first week of Jan when school started, during P2. -
Dear parents,
I would like to seek your advice as to what we need to buy/prepare for my boy who will be joining P1 come January :
1. School Uniform (How many sets do we need to buy)
2. Shoes (What is allowed in the school)
3. Socks (What is allowed in the school)
4. Bag (What is allowed in the school)
5. Wallet (What is the amount of pocket money required for P1 for lunch)
6. Pencil case (Do they need to bring any other stuff like color pencils, etc)
7. Water Bottle
8. Toothbrush and Toothpaste (Are these required)
9. Any other stuff that I have missed out
Really appreciate any kind advice and recommendation as this is our first time… Thank you! -
Hi, may I know if the ballot results for 2018 P1 registration is out? Only see 2017 one. I need to know abt SAJS phase 2C. Did all the <1 km registrants get in? Also for parents who just registered your kids in any primary schools, did the forms indicate that you’re in a rental or home owner? THanks!

I guess if u keep calling the sch will \"remember\" u and maybe can skip a few queue numbers? Just an assumption.sillygal_1608:
May I ask is it common to follow up calls to school after submitting waiting list and after phase 2C?
Hi sillygal_1608,
i guess there's no hard and fast rule and its up to the individual on whether you wish to call the school periodically to check. for me, l I tried calling up before i apply for 2CS (with a glimmer of hope) and got disappointed.
I will try calling again perhaps in NOV with another glimmer of hope. -
